Sheraton --Bay Tower

We came for a Conference with a discounted rate, so I'm not sure if the two towers command the same room rates.
The Bay Tower worked very nicely for us, but it does look like an older property re-branded as Sheraton.
Our room looked onto the Bay and North Island-a very excellent view, no noise from airport.
Between the two Sheraton towers is a good outdoor deli that serves the boat marina. It gets all the Sheraton guests for breakfast and lunch at cheap prices.
Restaurants: The restaurant at the Bay tower is almost nonexistent.
The restaurants at the main tower are deluxe, with terrace dining.
Pool: Not too special at the Bay tower. The pools(two) at the main tower are deluxe/ resort oriented, with live entertainment and waiter service to the pool chairs...
Lobby: At the bay tower, nothing special. At the main tower--Wow! lots of activity, fancy.
Room: clean, good bed, couch, tv, mini-bar--don't touch it., bathroom clean.
Parking: We got a special rate, but any charge is too much.
After spending much time on the balcony soaking up the view, we would have been happy, but then we walked over to the main tower----WHAT is this !!... Is this the same hotel !!? The main tower has activities, live entertainment at the pool, lounges, Starbucks --I hope they charge less at the Bay tower!
On the island, there are several restaurants within walking distance---besides the deli next to the hotel, there is the Boathouse restaurant with good prices, and Tom Ham's lighthouse, and Island Prime restaurant.
By car, the Star of India/ Embarcadero/Coronado Ferry and Harbor Excursion is about 5 minutes away.

Upon arrival at the Sheraton which looked beautiful as we pulled up to it, we realized that since our room was booked in the Bay Tower, we were not staying at the Hotel we pulled up at. We were to continue down the road to another Sheraton. The Bay Tower wasn't too bad but definately not as nice as the main sheraton. The front desk seemed very excited to tell us about the beautiful view of the Bay from our room, which it's true, we could see the bay...but the ugly parking lot was in between us and the bay. The room was clean but didn't seem to be up to par with other Sheraton's we've stayed at prior to this trip. On our confirmation email, it stated to please enjoy the Continental Breakfast which at any Best Western or any other cheaper hotel/motel...translates COMPLIMENTARY! Wrong we were, The set up was like that of a help yourself complimentary station with the typical muffins, fruit, oatmeal, and coffee. EXCEPT we were charged $3.00 for a coffee that we poured ourself ( had we known, we could have just made coffee in our room with the provided coffee pot). There was a starbucks at the main Sheraton but we would have had to walk quite a distance or get in our car just to get a cup of coffee. The muffins were $3.00/ea. and the banana's were $1.50/ea. Which seemed like such a rip off...I mean we were spending $200/night and they had to charge us for a banana! On the day of Check out we got our bill slipped under our door and it had five (5) addit'l. charges. We inquired what these were at the front desk and they said that we ate the food out of the mini fridge. in the room, which we didn't. It was over $30.00 in charges that kind of just looked like service/tax fees had we not looked into it. They quickly got rid of the charges without any questions. Interesting enough our friends who were staying at the hotel too recieved charges from the fridge. which they had not even opened either. What a scam...had we not questioned it...they would have made an extra $30.00 off us...for nothing. They obviously do this often for they didn't even question our us about the additional charges they just removed them. I'm very dissapointed in the Sheraton, I thought that name stood for QUALITY ....this one proved that wrong. We also wanted to grab some food and a drink and since the bar at our Bay tower was closed at 9pm on a Friday night, we had to drive over to the Main Sheraton ( kind of a pain) we went to the little lounge and ordered drinks which took over 35 mins to get from the time we ordered...seriously are they trying to drive business away on purpose? We had some friends with us that had children , which the lounge said it was acceptable for them to stay until 11pm. We ordered food (which was okay...not bad but not fabulous) we then sat there waiting and waiting for our check. Our server was nowhere in sight, we finally asked a different server if we could please get our check, all of a sudden our server appeared with the check and told us that we needed to get out of there because it was past 11pm, well we would have been out of there by 10:30 had she not dissapeared on us. That was very poor service and unprofessional on her part.
So to sum it up...we woudn't not stay there again. There were way too many scams and things that kind of blind sighted us. Perhaps the rooms at the Main tower were nicer but that's a chance we're not willing to take. If you decide to stay here....beware!

Arrived June 27 and stayed until July 3rd. Based on previous reviews I was a little apprehensive. Rented a car at the airport and parked in the main lot, no problem there. Walked in 3 hours before check-in and our room was ready. Our room was supposed to be on the concierge level but that was booked. They did however give us the privileges to the club and our room was in the main hotel. I had a rate of $229.00 for a convention I was attending. $20 a day additional to park in the lot, with in and out privileges. Information desk was very helpful and gave us directions to anywhere we were heading. Bartenders nice inside the main hotel. A few minor things for improvements. Walls were a little thin and could hear kids in the next room only one day. One elevator kept breaking down. Bathtubs with mildew around the stopper that needed just a good scrubbing. Club level has one computer for all business people to share. Unfortunately the days I was there, children were always on it making it impossible to check e-mail during my breaks from the convention. 4 computers down in the lobby for everyone else to share and they always were being used. They did give a 30 minute limit. Pool area was clean and perfect temperature. Plenty of chairs so that you did not have to fight for space. Workout room attendant was very nice and the room was clean. Machines seemed in good working order. Beautiful walking paths across the street. The pool does rent rafts for kids and adults and that is a definite plus. Beautiful views front and back of the hotel. Fireplaces outside to sit around in the evening and talk to other guest. Wait staff around pool was slow and bartender for the outdoors could have been a little friendlier. Check out was very smooth and fast. I would definitely stay here again. This area was central to everything we wanted to do. I would say this was a 9 on a scale to 10. Close to the airport but not too loud.

I booked this room without knowing its identity, on Hotwire - only paid $129/nite plus the $20/nite fee for parking-still quite a deal compared to their published rates-after I got the name of the hotel, I quickly checked reviews to find some negative comments about the hotel - I called the hotel directly- and worked with them on getting the Bay Tower - which the rooms are Larger ( or so I am told)-----and honestly, they gave us a Bay facing room on the 7th floor - we watched three sets of fireworks on our patio the night of the Fourth, and it was a great view......I would say to just be sure about which building you want to be in when you make the reservation...for us, a larger room was more important than the larger pool area that the other tower offered....the experience was a lot better than I expected, given the online reviews that I had read in advance of getting there - yeah, their computers were not working when I tried to check in, but , that wasn't so bad - we just left our luggage and checked in later.
