A Scandic in Brussels?

Stayed fri-sat in Scandic Brussels with a price of about 85? . Great value esp. if you are two. Breakfast is included as always. Room is just big enough for two. Had a water kettle, safe and bathtub in room. There seemed to be a/c as well. The fixed cupboards remind me of the Hilton Helsinki Strand although the rooms here are of course much smaller.
There was no hotel services booklet in the room, so I didn't get to know
- if there is free internet as in other Scandics (there was no signal in the room anyway)
- where the Saunas are
- at what time the restaurant closes (9:30pm)
- whether you could get the balcony doors unlocked
(didn't want to call and ask for all of these things separately as they came into mind).
Had a room facing the street, but there was not much disturbing traffic this night at least.
The location is really great except maybe for the views. The area is very complex so you will need a map if you go out walking, but basically the hotel is just a two minute walk from both the central station and the Grand Place.

The hotel is quite small - not a boutique one, though. The reception area is quite nice and we got registered quickly (it was already 10pm).
Location is good. It's very close to Metro and a only a few blocks away from Grand Place.
The rooms were quite small, we travelled as a couple and there was e.g. only one chair on which you could put your clothes on for the night. The good thing about the room was the parquett floor - no dust - and it gave sort of a fresher feel to the room. All in all the room was very basic. Our room was on the 5th floor (top-floor) and we had a window to the street. If we would have had a room on a lower level, we would probably have been disturbed by some occational night time traffic.
Breakfast worked out well with some organic stuff on the menu, too, if you're into sfuff like that.
Service overall; we checked in and out - that was pretty much it.. So, no complaints there.

Food Poisoning

We stayed one night at the Scandic. We were on a non-smoking floor and our neighbor smoked so much that we had to change rooms at midnight.
The next morning, we had breakfast and the smoked salmon seemed to be a bit off. Within eight hours of eating breakfast (we didn't have time for lunch), I developed food poisoning with all of the accoutrements (I am a physician and self-diagnosed). I called the hotel manager to inform her of what happened. Her response....Sorry, click.
Never again!!!!!

Another great stay at the Scandic Brussels. The Scandic breakfast was great as usual and our had the same rooms as our last stay and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
Will stay there again when I return.

It is the second time I stay at Scandic and I am even more certain that location couldn't be better. In addition to my previous experience, I must say that staff is friendly and international!
The only observation I would like to be considered is addressed for the ones who are traveling in 3 - the additional bed makes the room too tight for 3. For two the size of the room is ok but I wouldn't recommend 3! Despite this, Scandic is good value for money. The breakfast is also good!
