Recently stayed at this hotel as part of a conference with my husband. It is about 20 minutes outside the city center by commuter train which runs quite often. The train is right next to the hotel. I found the staff to be very pleasant, the rooms quite large (we had a bedroom and living room area) and the overall atmosphere very nice. Free internet in the lobby. I did not see much nightlife in the immediate area but this was not much of a concern for us. The breakfasts included are very good.

We stayed in this hotel on the way back from a canoeing trip in the North of Sweden. After a week in the wilderness we were very keen on some luxury and the hotel definitely provides a bit of that.
Beware that it's quite a bit outside the Centre, and although quite easy to reach by train (about 15-20 mins to the Centre) it's not the area where you would find much to do if you just went for a stroll.
The one key problem we had was that the room (which was looking into the courtyard and thus somewhat claustrophobic anyway) was very overheated and there was no possibility to regulate the temperature in any way. The reception kindly lent us a fan, but it didn't help much and so the night was spent in rather oppressive circumstances.
Overall not a bad place to stay if you are passing through or if you get a good deal.

Scandic Star - lacking service and interest into their customers

Having been a frequent traveler in the Nordics, the Scandic hotel group seemed to be a preferable location to stay at.
But not in the Scandic Star in Sollentuna.
While the location as such is ok for commuters to Stockholm (15-20 mins to inner city by car or train, a shopping mall and McDonalds nearby), and the hotel also has a couple of nice features.
While i certainly do see that repairs of chips and dents in furniture, walls and floors is something which can not be fixed over night, certainly some other things could be handled easily.
And - their personnel's interest into serving their customers is close to 0 - except from the front desk.
Some examples at a 4 nights stay:
* once no change of towels, once only 1 towel being available for shower, bathtub and sink use.
* My request to refill the mini bar - twice not done. The "mini bar" consists of 2 cokes and 2 water bottles - that's it. No snacks, no nothing.
Breakfast - a nightmare. at 8:20am:
* running out of milk. The machine (cold milk spender) is not being refilled. When asked, the waitress tells me to use the warm milk next to the coffee instead.
* every day (!) - running out of egg cups at 8:30am. When they been kindly asked for one, they tell me they dont have any. What?!? Well, sorry, not a single one available. Can they clean one for me? Sorry, no.
* The self-service buffet - heck, dirty glasses not cleaned for days. I guess the person which cleans the buffet counter uses the same wiping towel to clean the protective glasses. Slimy, really bad.
* Very bad organisation of table tidying. Several amateur helpers walking back and forth, but they run back with 2 plates and a glass, instead of using a tablet to carry multiple things at a time. As a result, the tables look messy even half an hour to one hour after the guests have left. Then you have to clean up yourself, And of course, no dirty table-cloths are being replaced by clean ones throughout the morning...
* one of the counters directly next to the breakfast buffet has not been moved for a while. The dirt is really that thick that i left a "clean me" inscription painted with my fingers onto the dirt. And guess what - when i returned 3 weeks later to that hotel, this message still was there!
The breakfast organization is a big mess. Everybody is doing what he or she wants, refill is a matter of being lucky, but not guaranteed.
This way, Scandic loses a lot of it's reputation. Sorry. NOT a place to recommend to the frequent Scandic customer who is used to a certain level of quality!

Eine Straßenbahnhaltestelle befindet sich direkt neben dem Hotel, von wo aus man ca. eine viertel Stunde in die Stadt benötigt.
Das Personal war sehr freundlich, in der Empfangshalle gibt es einen kostenlosen Internetzugang + Drucker.
Das Zimmer (+Wohnraum) war sehr sauber, es waren genügend Schränke und Kleiderhaken vorhanden.
Das Bad war sauber und hatte sowohl eine Badewanne als auch eine Dusche.
Das Frühstück war vielfältig und schmackhaft. Leere Schüsseln wurden direkt wieder aufgefüllt.
Wir würden das Hotel jederzeit wieder buchen.
