Good: Room was clean.
Bad:
1 AM: loud slamming doors, with kids, sounded like they just woke up and had been sleeping all day.
7AM: Walls are thin, can here everything, kids pounding floor, more slaming doors.
Did not feel safe.
Will not stay again.

When travelling on business all I want is a quiet clean room with a decent bed and work area, nothing more. Anything else is icing on the cake. My past experiences with Super 8 hotels have been positive more often than not, but after a couple of extremely bad stays I avoided Super 8 for several years. I decided to give the Sacramento Airport location a chance, since it offered the rate I was looking for (around $50) and because the property was originally a Microtel. My experience this time was great overall. Although showing its age, the room and public areas were spotless and well maintained. The room was as basic as a room can be, but it was all I wanted or expected. Bed was comfortable, work area was well lit. Although the hotel is located right off a busy highway, it was fairly quiet with the fan on all night. There are three negative issues, and none of these would keep me from staying here again. One, my "non smoking" room reeked of smoke; two, there was practically no water pressure in the shower; three, the breakfast was coffee, juice and stale pastry. But for $50 I can't complain. I will probably stay here again when in Sacramento on business.

This Super 8 is not well maintained and has major operational issues. When we checked in, they gave us a room that turned out not to be made up. They then gave us another room, but obviously did not make the room change in their computer. To our surprise at 2 a.m., there was someone trying to get into our room because they showed our new room as available and had rented it out. Good thing we had the lock on!
Overall the maintenance is lacking: the carpet was dirty around the edges, the curtain came off its track when we opened it due to a missing part, many of the hall lights are out, which the front desk said that they would fix but never did during our stay. In another room, my sister got "locked" in the bathroom when the bathroom door handle would not operate from the inside. The microwave was filthy and their bench seat had numerous splits with the stuffing coming out. They also had very noisy neighbors throughout the night. We will not stay here again!

The smallest room I ever had

The first surprise is the size of the room you get here: It's the smallest room I ever had in the US except for a Motel 6. This Super 8 motel was actually built as a Microtel. They are famous for their tiny rooms. But the disappointments dont end here. There were stains on the bed cover, several spots on the carpet and - worst of all - only one chair for two people! Since the room is so small and does not have enough chairs, you must lie down on the bed in order to watch TV (which only offers a very limited number of channels). The breakfast area is cramped and not well taken care of, but they offered tasty bagels (from Costco, as we found out). Service was indifferent. Marriott is building a hotel right next door. That is most likely the place to stay when it has opened. Even the low rate we paid at this Super 8 cannot convince me to stay there ever again.
