My wife and I stayed here for a three day ski trip in the begining of February. We walked into the hotel after the B&B (chalet ermina)we booked with didn't have a TV and balcony as was promised on the website. The central residence was only 14 swiss francs per night more than the B&B and had an individual balcony and TV (No English channels however) that we we're looking for. The room was very big for European standards, the balcony was nice and big with an incredible view of the opposite mountain range while overlooking the town of Leysin. The room was circa 1970, and needed an upgrade, but it was extremely clean and well taken care of. The mattress was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious enough and very clean. We also found the room very quiet, didn't hear anyone or anything. The lobby again needs an upgrade but really isn't bad. The staff was great especially the manager who was very friendly and helpful as was the bartender. The bar wasn't special but it was next to the reception desk and very convenient to get bottled water and a few beers to bring up to the room. The breakfast buffet was good. Fresh breads, cold cuts, cheese, yogurt and boiled eggs, fruit etc. Very simple appeared to be fresh and very easy to walk in and out and be done. No problems at all, but we didn't eat dinner here, so not sure what thats like. We also didn't visit the pool or club in the hotel so I can't comment on those. The hotel is an easy 5 minute walk downhill to the main gondola and ski lift. There is also ski rental facilities and ski lockers near the ski lift to store your skis if you don't want to hike with them back up the hill to the hotel. That said, the hotel is about 5-10 minute walk uphill from the ski lifts, may be a problem for those out of shape or not accustomed to walking on a road with ski boots. The main town is downhill from the hotel. Leysin is a small village in a small valley, and the ski lifts, most hotels & such are uphill from the actual village. Anywhere you stay you will basically need to walk up or down hill. There is a staircase near the hotel that is steep and fairly strenous but gives easy access to the town saving time from the two or three switchbacks it takes by road. Downhill to restaurants is about 10 minutes and the uphill is 15-20 minutes depending if your in shape or not. Le Leysin Restaurant and La Frommage are two restaurants not to miss. They are located next to eachother and are extremely old with amazing old Swiss character. Recommend reserving a table at both. Overall, we would stay at the Central residence again and would love to go back to Leysin. The hotel also seemed good with families since they're seemed to be kids everywhere.

desservis par un temps déplorable nous avons passé plus de temps que prévu à l'hotel. Il s'agit d'un grand immeuble à l'architecture austère des années 70 et qui aurait bien besoin d'une remise à neuf la chambre diposait d'un mobilier très fatigué est, à mon sens, indigne d'un trois étoiles, idem pour la moquette et l'éclairage; les repas servis en demi pension étaient corrects bien que le buffet manquait de variété. pour le reste le personnel était serviable et dévoué.

Nice place to stay but beware of the buffet. In a week time 5 people have gotten food-poisening problems there from mild to quite annoying. The salad bar is great but the rest can be quite bad-tasting.
