I have never come across such unhelpful and unapproachable reception staff, in particular the senior receptionist. A request for an extra pillow was greeted with a surly demand for an explanation as to why my wife and I needed such a thing. Similar behaviour was exhibited whenever we had the misfortune to need assistance, with the usual sharp "Not Possible!", and at check-out we were told that our card was faulty (not true!), causing us significant inconvenience. To top it all, the telephones had been arranged so that it was not possible to use a phonecard. The saving grace were the excellent and always cheerful cleaning staff.

lousy hotel experience. booked directly over the phone and their hotel reservations misquoted the room rate by 200CHF!! Hotel management chose not to honour the rate quoted when we made the reservation and made us feel like we were at fault. Given we were there for the holiday May Day weekend, pretty much every other hotel was booked out so we were a bit stuck and had to spend our 1st night there. The room at de la paix was average to disappointing, the pull out couch for our kids was without sheets and the safe did not work. The room and hotel were tired and certainly did not merit the 4 star rating they deem themselves to be. Beds were uncomfortable (hard as a rock). Service was with a smile but little else. We will not be returning and would not recommend this hotel. Were lucky to relocate to the Parkhotel Continental for the remainder. Great service at the hotel reservation desk at the Lugano train station...open until 7pm weeknights. Great stay at the Parkhotel Continental....brand new rooms, good location, and excellent service (smile with substance!).

Well, we love Lugano and always stay at the Hotel de la Paix. We do like the terrace and it is great if you have a room with a balcony overlooking the lake. Location is good and the bar is actually quite nice and old fashioned with a certain charme. Staff always friendly, really nice.

mi capita sempre più spesso di recarmi a Lugano e qui ho trovato quello che cercavo. Un facile accesso dall'autostrada con parcheggio gratuito. Camera silenziosa e pulita. Ottimo ristorante con pizzeria. Pratico collegamento internet. Giusto rapporto prezzo qualità. Per le mie esigenze va più che bene.
