There were only a few rooms available in Zermatt for the Friday and Saturday night we wanted, so we felt lucky to find this one at the last minute. Our email reservation went smoothly.
The Darioli is very easy to find (just head up the street from the train station) and centrally located, convenient to everything. We were on the back side of the hotel, and our room was very quiet even when the crowds outside were noisy.
Our room was small and minimally furnished but clean, with good quality bed linens. The bathroom was larger than expected, given the size of the room, and nicely updated. The towels, however, were thin and shabby and should have been replaced some time ago. Soap and two packets of shampoo are provided.
There are no amenities at this guesthouse-style hotel (other than the elevator). No breakfast was available, so we bought our own food at the local grocery store and ate in the room, then had coffee later at a restaurant terrace with a good view of the Matterhorn.
I would look for a more luxurious place to stay if we went back to Zermatt, but this one was okay for a couple of nights.

My sister & I stayed in Darioli Hotel on 6 Oct 2007 for one night but that was more than enough for us. It was the worst hotel I have stayed in during my entire 3-week trip across Switzerland & Italy. The reception lady was very grouchy during our check-in & didn't offered even a welcome smile. We asked for some hot water later that evening and was prepared to give a euro5 tip but she was so unfriendly we decided to keep the tip. The room we had faces the main street and it was very noisy. We heard loud voices (maybe from 5 - 6 people) shouting to each other & merry making at about 3.30am! It went on for about 15 mins & stopped. Then it started again at 4.45am. We couldn't sleep that night.
The room itself is very, very small and very basic - the sleep-and-go type. There was a attached balcony but not much use as it was very filthy. The toilet fortunately was a decent size & clean.
We paid CHF165 for the night without breakfast because it was the cheapest hotel we could find near the train station. But we actually found some very beautiful 4-star hotels away from the station for the same price or thereabouts which include a 5-course dinner and breakfast. Our advice to travellor is this: don't bother about staying near the train station - Zematt is very small and accessibility is definitely not a problem.

I am writing from the hotel right now. After reading the reviews i booked this hotel but i have to say that just because of the hostess and employees i will have to rate this hotel as my worst experience in Switzerland. The rooms are okay, TVs do not work and the employees are not friendly when you complain about it. Infact when we complain they say that it is not their problem (as if it is the fault of the guest after paying 185 francs for a room).
Just ignore this hotel when you visit Zermatt if you have any other option available.

first time i'm a bit affraid what hotel looks like? bc there are few reviews.
but when i opened the door i found it's good value for 3 star hotel
as you can see from my photos
I really like bathroom bc it's very clean
breakfast.....delicious
service...good to best
oh one good thing is that this hotel is near the ski/snowboard school and bayard(just for sale) and you can walk around 5 min from train station
i recommend to rent all ski/snowboard stuffs at Bayard opposite train stations (big and complete both ski set and clothes)

anyway, the disadvantages are that
there is no storage room for keeping luggages after check out, however, all luggages still stay in the same place and not lost
the hotel is saved fire energy bc they all are closed automatically and you need to press them many times
