Nice hotel and nice people.
The room had been modernized with laminate floors and modern furniture. It also had a bath - some only have a shower. After hiking all day in the chilly rain the bath was most welcome! The bathroom was not as modern as the bedroom, but just as clean. There was also a fridge in the room.
Breakfast is the same choice every morning, which can be monotonous after 3 days.
I would absolutely stay there again.

Have just returned from a stay at the Hotel Europe in Brig, which is conveniently situated for the railway station. The room was well appointed and of a good size. Continental 'buffet breakfast' provided which was ample. The proprietors were friendly and approachable. Good value and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

It is difficult for a family of four (two teenagers) to find appropriate accomodations, but Hotel Europe fit the bill perfectly. We had rooms 40 and 41. One room had a double bed and the other room had two single beds. The beds were quite comforable. Both rooms had their own TV and mini-bar. These two rooms were connected by a hallway which consisted of one room with two showers/sinks and one room with a toilet. The master bedroom also had its own sink and the room was really large with lots of closet and storage space. There was plenty of room to put all our suitcases and gather as a family. There was a separate locked door to the outside so that we could keep our individual rooms open. The breakfast area was just down the hall, and the food was good. I found the workers extremely pleasant and the cost was very reasonable for a family of four. I was very pleased at how large and comfortable our rooms were and would have loved to stay more than one day. We were able to easily walk with our luggage from the train station.

The Hotel Europe is ideally situated across from the train station in the small town of Brig, Switzerland. We checked in there unexpectedly after we arrived to the city too late to make the last bus connection to Saas Fee for the evening.
The hotel is several stories high. The rooms are an average size by European standards (small by US standards). Each room is equipped with a television and a mini bar as well as a bath tub, toilet and sink. The furnishings are outdated, but the beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean.
The breakfast is a typical German/Swiss style with assorted cold cereals, rolls, coffee, tea and juices. A previous reader complained of the breakfast selection, but unless a full American breakfast is specified at a German, Swiss or Austrian hotel, this is typical fare. The hotel staff was very pleasant. If you choose not to eat at the hotel, there are numerous restaurants within walking distance, which offer various cuisines.
Though the hotel is just the basics, it filled our desire for a clean and comfortable place to stay. If we were ever in Brig in need of a hotel room in the future, we would not hesitate to stay here again.
The location of the hotel makes it a perfect starting point for taking day hikes in the area or for catching the Post Bus to take to the surrounding areas.

Don't go, awful. Room was clean, adequate, but the jacuzzi bath stank when the jets were switched on, and loads of black n green algae came out. The food was apalling, breakfast in the Europe was almost non existant. Dinner, served at the Victoria was dreadful, no choice from starter or sweet (the latter was mainly from packet mixes) and only 2 choice of main again poor, not fresh, the turkey steaks were from frozen. Had to sit in conservatory at front on main street, plastic tables and chairs. Our party wasn't allowed use of dining room, yet following party from same company arriving next night were.
Would not go again . We off back to Austria next year, Ellmau rules!!
