We have traveled in Switzerland for nearly 20 years and had never been to Adelboden because the road ends there. My husband wanted to go to a spa this year and we read about the Park Hotel-Bellevue so we tried it. We loved it! Thanks to the trip advisor reviews, I knew a "traditional" room would be more to our liking and that we wanted a room facing the mountains. We have always loved Zermat but we now prefer Adelboden for it's beauty and the wonderful Park Hotel. The rooms are reasonable (for a Swiss hotel) and the price includes dinner. The wine selection is extensive with a knowledgable wine steward. The thermal, outdoor salt water pool is absolutely fabulous. After a day of hiking, skiing or just getting a massage, the jets in the pool feel great. Unfortunately, we did not take the confirmation seriously enough when they recommended we "book wellness treatments prior to arrival". Almost all appointments in the spa were filled when we arrived. We were able to make a couple of treatment appointments when we checked in and we picked up a couple more during our stay as other guests cancelled them. If you are going for the spa however, make your appointments early. We presume the beautiful lady who came around to take our dinner order every night was the owner and she certainly handled herself as the owner. She made sure all of our "wants" were taken care of when we dined. As we left, I asked if I could purchase the wonderful honey they had on the breakfast buffet somewhere in the village since my husband liked it so well. She went to the back and brought me a jar. She said they purchase it from a local farmer and it was not available in the stores, now that's service! We will be back next year and are bring friends with us. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
The only change we would make is to get a larger room. The rooms are a bit small with lots of furniture in them. Also, as mentioned in another review, the Swiss love their heat so just remember to wear short sleeves inside.

We've stayed at the Parkhotel Bellevue twice, once on a summer walking holiday, and the second time in the autumn, just for the food, scenery and spa facilities. We can't recommend it highly enough. It is friendly, smart but not stuffy, the cable car infrastructure takes you to some fabulous walking country, the relaxing areas of the hotel are perfect for de-stressing, the food is both delicious and healthy, the selection of wine is outstanding, the indoor pool is spacious, and the outdoor saltwater pool is simply heaven with a view. The rooms are not the best we've had in Switzerland, and it's not cheap, but it is great value for money, all things considered. It is true, as a previous reviewer noted, that the walk up to the hotel is steep, but the hotel is more suited for active visitors, and with the right boots, and perhaps walking sticks, the steep walk is not a problem. We hope to return in the winter with our ski-mad daughter. We like it so much that we were torn between keeping it a secret and submitting this review.

This is the second time that we visit this hotel but it is the first time that we do so with our 23 month old son... They treated our little one like a king. We were not even charged for the wonderful supper that the hotel prepared for him. On top, they asked me exactly what our son wanted to eat.. which vegetables? which fish? Super service! We stayed in a junior suite with an incredible view and the hotel arranged a lovely babysitter for the evening so we could enjoy the evening meal. The food is great and plenty! The wine list is also phenomenal. And the spa is just a dream. The view by the pool is amazing and I took a spa treatment which was great. Fully recommend this place for the very many wonderful things it has to offer but what really touched me most this time was how wonderful the staff was with children, even if this is not a "family oriented" resort.

The Parkhotel Bellevue is a very smart, not overly big, Alpine resort hotel. It is family-owned and is currently run by a charming mother-and-son team. The single best thing about it is probably the food: we stayed on a half board plan and dinner each night consisted of 5 courses - cooked extremely well. Great wine list - there is a wine recommendation each evening, supported by a very entertaining essay about the recommended wine, the vinyard and its owners. Food and wine is taken very seriously, without any faddishness or snobbery. The hotel was also happy to provide alternatives if the menu choices didn't appeal and to accommodate dietary requests. Rooms are very nice, very clean - but do vary hugely in terms of size and decor. I recommend a detailed discussion at the time of booking. The hotel has a very smart spa, staffed by a couple of excellent therapists, at prices about 2/3rds of the London level. Though not cheap, we thought that the hotel was excellent value for money in general considering the facilities on offer and the high standards of food and service. (I disagree with earlier reviewers who thought the Bellevue is pricey.) There is a large indoor pool and a small, very warm outdoor saltwater pool. Service is excellent and always smiling. Go and there and relax!
A single note of caution: the hotel is located up a steep-ish walk from the main village street. It is only about a 3 minute walk up but might prove a challenge for the extremely unfit!
