It is not a hotel or motel -- it is a dumpster 2 blocks from the beach. Dirty, strong and creepy smell, hostile and either drunk or drugged owner, half-naked, threatening you not to walk near him. Half-naked, grabs your hand, and leads you to the back door, and through his smelly breath tells you to use that. You cannot come into this garbage through the front-door -- the crazy owner threatens you!! He gives you a key to the broken back door and shows a stairs away from him, because it bothers him. Towels are ripped and dirty, doors shake, overall -- a horrid experience. A very creepy place -- beware! Also, it advertizes parking, but beware -- it comes with NO parking. I wouldn’t stay there even if it were free; the place feels unsafe, like a creepy mental hospital on a brink; this place has fallen apart a long time ago, and will ruin your entire beach experience.

My partner and I have been coming to this property for the last 12 years. Gets better every year. We stayed here for July 4th holiday. Great location and convenient. Rooms are clean and updated. Double glad we got a room close to the beach this year as the fireworks were set off early and we ran to our room before the downpour.

My friend and I made a last-minute mid-week overnight beach trip with our two 4 year olds. She had already booked the room for a cousin who wasn't able to make the trip. For our purposes, this was perfect. AND so cheap! Very short, pleasant walk to the beach and boardwalk, ditto for restaurants and shops. The room was small (we got a double only), but we were expecting that. It was sparse, but clean with a good a/c and cable. Downsides: There is no free on-site parking. For a refundable deposit, you can opt for a parking permit for street parking. This might be tough for weekend travelers in peak season. We didn't even use our car, and didn't have to walk far to get it. Also, the a/c was a bit noisy. Keep your expectations in line: If you are looking for amenities, loads of customer service and pampering, then don't come here. If you want a clean, cheap, basic home base to launch a short beach trip, this might work for you. It did for us.

If you are looking for a great value just a block from the beach Summer Place is it. If you are use to upscale rooms with all the frills this is not the place for you. The rooms are small but who goes to the beach to stay in their rooms all day anyway? Our room was clean, had a small microwave, fridge, AC, and a TV. The bathroom was clean as well so Summer Place get's an overall good rating from me.

Summer Place is an outstanding bargain with a fabulous location. It may not have a lot of frills, but it's so close to the beach - a block - and so close to all the restaurants and shopping in Rehoboth, and it's rates are so affordable that you can't go wrong. I recommend it to all my friends. You go to the beach to enjoy the sun and sand, the sea and the seafood - then you ramble back to your air conditioned room at Summer Place and sleep contented. It's clean, quiet, and cool.
