It started when we booked & had it confirmed that we would be staying in a 2 bedroom/ 2 balcony ocean view condo ... needless to say we got stuck w/ a 2 bedroom, 1 balcony condo with a lovely view of the parking garage and dumpster. When we complained the front desk idiot tried to convince us that the room we had and the room we reserved and paid for were the same exact room but the second balcony wasn't there because of the parking garage, as if it was our fault the garage was there. When we asked to speak to the manager, of course he wasn't there but we were told he would be there in the morning ... in fact he never did show up the whole week we were there. They told us that there were no refunds and they couldn't switch us around because they were all booked but there was a vacancy sign in front of the hotel.
We tried to make the best of it regardless ... we ended up in room 214 which was a nice set up even though that's not what we booked and paid for. HOWEVER, the water heater leaked, the handle to the entrance door was about to fall off, and sure enough we ended up with the room that turned our feet black. I read those reviews before we went and thought to myself 'there's no way' but sure enough WAY! The hotel staff were complete idiots, they told you absolutely nothing about the hotel ... there were only 3 elevators that took 15 minutes or longer to reach you .. there were always crowds in the foyer waiting to get on an elevator. The housekeeping was nothing to brag about ... they gave fresh towels the first day we stayed there, after that we had to get our own towels, trash bags, soap, and even toilet paper from the front desk who acted like it was too much to ask for clean towels. Their so-called "free" breakfast consisted of cold runny eggs, stale toast, and cold coffee. Luckily there was a Dunkin' Doughnuts just down the road.
We highly recommend that you pay the extra few dollars and stay elsewhere, like the Sea Mist or Coral Reef! The Palace is hideous and should definately be shut down!

I feel I should warn people about the service and rooms offered by Palace in Myrtle Beach. We had the most horrifying vacation experience of our lives at this place. I would not recommend this hotel to ANYONE unless you don't mind dirty smelly rooms, freezing pools, irresponsible cleaning staff, stained sheets, no blinds, dirty carpet and just feeling grossed out in general. There was not ONE SINGLE THING good about this hotel, please stay elsewhere. I stepped into the room and a horrible smell just came at me like sweaty feet. Stay away from 803 !!!!!
7/3 Check In- No carts for guests, elevator broken, grease all over floor in room 803 (ie: slipped on floor) and roach in kitchen cabinet. Went to front desk to request room change. I was told couldn’t switch rooms. I was offered to have maintenance to come to the room and clean grease on floor and terminate roach. Desk staff called maintenance, I over heard maintenance tell desk staff that, they (ie: guests) can go clean it themselves b/c that is not his job. He also said he will provide cleaning products needed and they (ie: guests) can clean it. Maintenance staff also said that they (ie: guest) can also take care of the roach situation. I was appalled what he said. I asked front desk if I could cancelled my reservations and was told I could but would be charged deposit and one night’s cost of a room. When I arrive in the room maintenance was in there cleaning the floor. He reports and agreed there was grease on floor and slippery (ie: never terminated roach). I ended up terminating it myself. I observed plastic table on the balcony broken.
7/4 AM-I observed end table having a crack in glass table top in the rear.
10:00 -called front desk and requested extra towels to be sent up b/c their was no house keeping that morning.
11:45- went to front desk no management available till after 3pm.
2:00pm- called front desk and requested extra towels to be sent up.
4:00pm- went to front desk and requested a manager I was told she wasn't in.
7/5 AM- No house keeping-.
10:15- called front desk requested extra towels to be sent up.
2:30- spoke to assist manager, explain entire situation about poor service. I was told washer and dry are broken and when it is fix she would send up extra towels. I was told manager would be in at 9 am following day 7/6 and would contact me about above issues.
7:00- Earlier in day put garbage outside door and was taken away. No towels, called front desk to request towel to be sent up and was told to come down and get them.
7/6 AM 11:00 Went to front desk requested to see manager (ie: was told the day before manager would be in tomorrow at 9am). I was told manager is not in. I provided my number and requested manager to contact me. Since check- in at palace I have not been able to contact manager of palace resort.
7:15PM Called front desk and explained no house keeping and have over following garbage, no clean towels and need toilet paper. I was told to bring down dirty towel in exchange for clean ones and was told to take garbage in room out to garbage can on the floor. I requested to speak to manager and was told none was available. I was told the manager would be in at 8 am tomorrow.
7/7 Checked out of hotel. Thank god ! When I was at front desk another couple was complaining about same issues I was having. I was able to talk to manger not very helpful nor did she seem to care. I was able to get one free night but not worth it. I did not have house keeping for 4 night stay. The staff there needs to be educated on hospitality.

We booked a week stay at this hotel thru the website. It looked ok and we thought it was a decent hotel. We were not expecting anything flashy, but a clean room and decent service. We got there at 2pm they told us to come back at 3pm, we thought that is fine, check in was at that time anyway. We came back and still our room was not ready. The front desk girl was incredibly rude!
So after a long wait we finally get our room close to 4 pm.
That night we get ready for bed and notice the pillows had drool stains, the sofa bed was dirty with old food in the cushions, stains, and strange bad odors. Oh, and the toilet was broken.
The next morning we tried to use the coffee pot and there was hair inside the place you put the water in.
The outside wasn’t any better. The pool was dirty, with cigarettes butts, wrappers, and leaves. One of the Jacuzzi’s was the color of pee, a bright yellow, needless to say no one was in that one.
On our 2nd night the fire alarm went off and stayed on for 2 hours from 2-4 am. They said it was a malfunction to go back to bed. Easier said than done! In the end we said forget it and left that day.
If you have children this is NOT A GOOD HOTEL TO VISIT. If you want some quiet time as a couple this is NOT THE PLACE. For the most part our stay at there has ensured that we never visit this Myrtle Beach again!
There is a reason that so many people have rated The Palace as “terrible”

The location is good, I guess anything with the beach in the back is good to me, but the resort was nasty. We got there after a11 hr trip for the 4 of July week, as we were ready to check in there was a coup[le in front of us complaining about the room being dirty and that they wanted another room, right there and then my wife looked at me with one of those looks, anyway we got the room and, "surprise", the sheets were dirty, the mattress was stained, crumbs all over the drawers in the bedroom, kitchen utensils dirty, anyway we called the lobby and they sent someone to clean, half [-] clean. since we had such a long trip we just went wal-mart and got some disinfectant and cleaned ourselves specially with 2 kids. Everyone I talked to that was staying at the resort had a complaint about the same thing, cleanliness so go figure. The pictures on the internet, well, they are not all truth. Other than that, the area is ok is like going to Daytona or Panama City for those who like that. Hard Rock Park is awesome...
