Ritz--Wonderful experience in heart of Philadelphia

From the moment you enter its impressive lobby, you can relax that you are in the hands of truly professional hospitality personnel. Every single person was friendly, adept at his or her job and gave the impression that to serve you was their pleasure. The room was ready, cool and perfect; the trademark Ritz-Carlton marble bathroom made me feel in the lap of luxury.
You don't go here if you are pinching pennies. Breakfast was delicious, but over-the-top expensive. Valet parking also adds to the tab. The plus is that you can walk from the lobby to many wonderful restaurants, the Kimmel Center, shopping--so much that Philly has to offer.

We stayed at the Ritz for one night after dropping our daughter off with her grandparents, so it was a nice getaway evening.
The hotel is beautiful with a very chic lobby, bar, restaurant combination. The staff were courteous, friendly and helpful. We paid a rate of $295 that included a $50 credit to parking and breakfast. While not inexpensive, compared to other hotels in the area such as The Rittenhouse Hotel, it was definitely the dealmaker. The hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants and shopping also.
The room was very nice although not outstanding and a bit small but it was sparkling clean. Also, we were treated to a beautiful view of (I believe) city hall with William Penn on top. Quite an extraordinary view really.
When we went down for breakfast, I thought it would be a very nice buffet of continental breakfast items. I was wrong! It was full breakfast that you ordered from a menu including cappuccino, omelets, toast, fresh squeezed juices and more.
We would definitely go back!

Ritz in Philly - Just OK

Overall we had a fairly pleasant stay at this Ritz. The lobby of this hotel is beautiful. The rooms are very nice. As for service, it is so so. The bellman are a little inattentive...sometimes they are too busy talking amongst themselves to help out the guests. The front desk staff was ok. It was our anniversary and it was noted in our reservation, but they never mentioned it or sent any kind of amenity to our room. We stayed on the Club level, which was not up to other Club standards and no where near as good as the one in Amelia Island, Laguna, or Boston. Cheap wine and champagne and no other drinks out at cocktail hour. Usually it is top shelf...but not the case here. Next time I think I would stay at the Four Seasons - it seemed to be in a prettier area too.
