We had orginally booked into the Zeppelin Hotel via the Zeppelin-NT website, but they cancelled our reservation without our knowledge and we ended up at the Krone. It is a hundred times better than the Zeppelin Hotel.
It is a delightful hotel with big rooms, comfortable, electrically-adjustable beds, balconies in all the rooms and excellent facilities. The buildings are modern, well-designed and sumptuously furnished. They have indoor and outdoor pools, spa and fitness center, several bars, a small bowling alley, minigolf and covered parking. There was a complimentary champagne happy hour the night we arrived. Our two girls had a blast there, and so did we. Meals were excellent. The pools and fitness facility were great, especially the indoor pool with poolside bar. The staff was very friedly and helpful.
It is out of town, but close to the Friedrichshafen airport and easy access by car to the whole Bodensee area.
Highly recommended.

We chose this hotel for the beginning and end of our touring holiday of Bavaria and Austria last summer with our two teenagers. We wanted to be near Friedrichshafen airport but not in a town and this hotel was ideal. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and comfortable, the indoor and outdoor swimming pools clean and a good size. A large hotel but we didn't find it impersonal and the staff were friendly and helpful. Very good restaurant and excellent breakfasts. Easy access to Friedrichshafen and the main routes around Lake Constance and to the motorway to Bregenz and on to Austria.

Luke-warm champagne deal

The hotel offers a "Champagne-Dreams"-deal including a 'comfort room', breakfast buffet, five course dinner and a free ticket for the Zeppelin-Museum - priced at EUR 117.50 per night (single).
The breakfast buffet is excellent and beautifully presented; the dinner is, however, a very slow and pretty average affair - at one stage drinks took over thirty minutes to arrive.
The 'comfort room' I was given was fairly small and very drab - dark, depressing furniture chipped in places, not all appliances in working order, the mattress worn out, the chair on the balcony on the brink of collapse. Despite the summer heat there was no airconditioning, not even a fan. Complaints about the lack of comfort in a 4-star-'comfort room' were only snappily responded to.
Based on this experience, I cannot recommend the hotel, despite its generally very beautiful appearance and the clean and nicely designed facilities. The place is a service desert hiding behind a nice facade.
