The Red Lion in Helena is a perfect place to stay while in Helena. The lobby is beautiful - you wouldn't expect this in Helena. the staff was very friendly and eager to help with anything I asked of them. I will definatley stay again and again when I'm in Helena.

The Red Lion in Helena has been around a long time and has been considered one of the classiest in town. At check-in we were "greeted" by a young woman who did not utter a word to us- we had to do all the talking. Not a good welcome. Our room was clean and nicely furnished. We had coupons for breakfast in the hotel resturant, but the hostess/waitress/busser/etc. informed us that she was the only person working on that busy Sat. morning and it was obvious that we not be able to be in and out of there in the hour we had available to eat breakfast, so we went down the road to Starbucks. With a little employee customer service training (ie- greeting the customer(duh!), etc. and a little more help in the resteraunt. , the Red Lion will be around for many more years!

We stayed at this hotel for one night and were very happy during our stay. There was ample free parking. The large room was very comfortable with a mini-fridge and microwave. The room was very clean. The amenities were plentiful and of good quality. I have absolutely no complaints about this hotel and would definitely stay here again, and I don't say that very often.

This hotel is absolutely the nicest Hotel I've ever stayed in. When you walk into the hotel the lobby is beautiful. First thing you notice is the spiral staircase. The rooms are huge, recently remodeled and very comfortable. They have both indoor and outdoor pool and a nice yard area for kids or pets. I have stayed at other hotels in helena, but all my stays in the future will be at this hotel. The price is competitive with the other hotels in Helena, none of which can comapre to the Colonial Hotel. During my 3 day stay, the staff was all very pleasant and friendly and seemed to care about us and were very helpful.

The Red Lion was one of the higher pricer hotels, but the quality was
very sub-standard. Our stay was on Saturday night and the hotel had maybe 20 cars in the whole parking lot at the peak time. This indication should have been the red flag, but the check in was depressing with the front desk lady who appear to want to be anywhere
other than in the hotel. Our path to our room was filled with dust and dirt and our beds and pillows were way too soft for a decent night sleep. We turn the a/c unit on and every 15 minutes the a/c unit sound like a fork in sink disposal. The hotel with the best location and appearance from the outside is by far the Best Western Helena Great Northern. Location is perfect.
