After reading the reviews on this site, I would like to make a rebuttal.
I too stayed in a "poolside" room. It was winter and the pool is out of doors and closed. The staff told me they are planning to someday enclose the pool.
My room had been recently renovated and was quite nice. Granite countertops, new furniture, microwave and refrigerator in the room. Average sized room as well. Also, my room was extremely clean.
It was obvious the property was under renovation. I won't complain about that since they are obviously trying to improve the property.
The staff was excellent. The food in the restaurant surprisingly very good.
I work with the general public every day and for the most part, people with complaints are the ones who comment the most. And the majority of these people are not satisfied with anything, anyway.
So my comment to the person who rated this hotel to a '70's porn hotel, how would you know? (by the way, I never saw any green shag carpet in the other rooms that were not renovated when I walked by).

The Red Lion Idaho Falls was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I stayed in a room by the pool, which was run down. There were over 15 hairs on the floor and in the bath tub of my room.
I called the manager to show him the hairs and was told the manager listed on the card in my room was no longer working at the hotel, so I asked for the new manager. I was forwarded to a voice mail that stated this manager was out of town for the week.
I went back to the front desk and asked for a new room. I was provided one, again in the pool area. This room was moderately better until that evening I pulled down the bed cover and found yellow-stained pillow cases.
I wrote to the company CEO regardng my stay and even sent along one of the pillow cases. I received no reply. This hotel should be avoided.

First of all, Anya at the front desk is a great asset to this place; she was extremely helpful.
Booked this for $50 on priceline. The hotel is centrally located which works out great. This place is a bit dated and just has a feel of an older property. I was originally booked into a "poolside" room. That section is detached from the tower and looks like a sketchy motel. The tower rooms are nice and very clean. I would stay here again for this price.

Okay so now we're on the road, it's getting late, been driving 13+ hours outta' Canada, hotels are filling up fast. VOILA! Red Lion at the Falls has a room. Check the book...hmmmmm....good reviews. BONUS we're soooo there, and I'm sooooo wasted from driving. Uh-oh there seem to be two distinct parts of this place. The Tower gives it it's contemporary appeal, but that's not where our room is (?) We're set-up in a different building across the lot, in back of the pool area. In a space which looks oddly like the "motels" that 70's porn movies were shot in .......in southern California perhaps. This is a bad place fer' sure. Ground floor (so at least we don't have to worry about falling through the ceiling!) Everything here is grossly outdated. The wall controls for the lamps, TV, radio, laser ray gun are immediately recognized (along with the dark stains on the drab green shag carpet) as set designs from "Deep Throat" -the Original, I think........ Loud, no soundproofing, dirty, dingy rooms (bath & bed) , mattresses sagging both to the middle AND outside (how does that work???) Under $100 for a king size standard room, ranks up there with the worst $100 I ever spent, but hey I was tired. I wasn't thinking clearly........Don't make the same mistake that I made. Roll your window down......Keep driving!

Avoid the rooms around the pool area & restaurant at all costs. There is no view of the falls to compensate for the abysmal setting and noise disruptions. They were in the midst of renovations during our stay and would start jackhammering the sidewalk across from our door at 9:00 in the morning, even on Saturday morning. On Saturday, a Mariachi band started booming at 3:00 in the afternoon and continued into late in the evening. We called the front desk to ask for assistance and they said that a dance was scheduled there until 1:00 a.m. and they couldn't do anything about it. We called the Idaho Falls police and they said there was no ordinance that restricted such disturbances within businesses. It was awful. The room itself appeared decent, but the walls were paper-thin. We could hear all the doors around us open and shut and any movement from the room above was very distinct. At least we had a renovated room, but it was obvious from the lingering odor that it had previously been a room for smokers.
DEFINITELY inquire about parties & noise before you make a reservation. We never encountered this scenario before and will never make the same mistake again!!
