Hotel - room comfortable. Room service slow and didn't always get order right. Reception very helpful. Free airport transfer. Biggest problem - it is right next to the train tracks which go past all the time. Worst one in the middle of the night and they have to sound their hooter as the tracks cross the road - so don't expect a quiet stay!
Not convenient for Downtown Denver! When I booked (through Trailfinders) it stated on the website that there was a downtown shuttle - asked about it to be told they had just stopped it! They really push you towards taking taxis downtown - only $20 but still inconvenience!
Wouldn't stay there again! Only convenient for airport and if you aren't planning on staying in Denver as hire car rental next door.

After reading the reviews, we are a little hesitant to stay here. But, we were in town for the music festival out at Dick's Sporting Goods Complex, so this hotel was very convenient. We had a room on the 3rd floor, which was newly renovated. All amenities were very good. We did not hear the train in the middle of the night like everyone else describes. Overall, we were impressed with the value and convenience.

This was a horrible hotel. My husband and I were stuck in Denver due bad weather for two days and the airline put us up in this hotel (on a Thursday). About 10 of us were sent to the hotel at around 12am, and with two staff members working the front desk, it took them more than an hour to get us all checked into rooms. The first night my husband and I were put in a room with twin beds. When we asked to change rooms for the following night, they still could not “find a clean room with a king size bed.”
The room was bearable, but unfortunately, our stay did not improve. The first room were placed in a room without working cable pay-per-view. Next we were moved to a room that supposedly had working cable (still in twin beds), but we did not have consistent pay per view cable service. While the maintenance people were kind and helpful, the problem was never fully resolved.
Fortunately, there were restaurants walking distance from the hotel (something we learned since hotel restaurant closes in the middle of the day). We made the mistake of eating dinner in the hotel restaurant where the food was barely edible. My husband and I both order the ribs which were too greasy, too fatty and barely warm served with cold French fries. It was so bad we passed on dinner and got Cheetos from the snack store downstairs.
Finally, the worst was the dirty sheets. Before bed I pulled down my bedding to go to bed which felt itchy and found that the sheets were covered with human hair! I called the front desk and they were very apologetic and called housekeeping to change the sheets. They were promptly changed 10 minutes later. However, our stay was nothing short of infuriating. Unless you’re forced by the airport to stay there, I would never recommend this hotel!

Booked through Priceline for a quick stay in Denver for a wedding. This hotel is still going through renovations. I believe it may have been a Holiday Inn before. It has some great features, the lobby and conference rooms look great, and the breakfast bar was very nice. However, some of the not-so-nice features of the beat up Holiday Inn still show through the paint and recarpeting. Some doors to the pool seemed too beat up to work correctly (the card access). The exercise room is nice -- although pretty obviously it is a former pair of hotel rooms converted into an exercise room. While rooms have received paint and carpet, the vents, sinks and floors seem to show some battering from the old days. Rooms also smelled a bit stuffy. Halls are somewhat narrow, and the housekeeping staff held loud conversations in Spanish outside the door. At one point, as I was coming back to the room, the maid was frowning at her checklist, then proceeded to enter our room without announcing herself (my wife was inside). Fortunately I intervened but certainly this shows a problem.
Overall, the renovated Red Lion is not bad, but there are a few troublesome problems here and there that leave a bad taste in your mouth.

I booked my stay on Priceline. The pictures looked fantastic and I thought I was something for getting such a nice hotel for $35. We'll as the old saying goes, "If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is."
By all means the hotel is adequate. They are renovating and as of April 2008 the 1st floor and lobby have been completed. They look fantastic. The 2nd and 3rd floors are currently undergoing renovation and are closed. The 4th and 5th have not been renovated. My room was on the 5th and it was clean but dated.
It was well worth the $35 a night but I would have been upset had I paid $75 or more. The beds were also very comfortable.
This will be a nice hotel once the renovations are complete but before you check in, take a ride on the elevator and see what floor have completed renovations and request room on renovated floor.
The only major drawback is the D&%$ train than runs next to the parking lot ALL NIGHT LONG.
