We arrived with a sense of trepidation as Rydges Adelaide left a lot to be desired. What a relief it was when we walked in to the foyer, checked in seamlessly and arrived into a small, but beautifully clean and perfectly functional room.
The location of this hotel is the real star factor. Shopping, bars and restaurants in close proximity; walking distance to the railway station for trips to Freemantle, etc. Very easy to get to the harbour for ferries to Rottnest Island and Swan river cruising.
We stayed during the business week, so it was quiet, however on leaving Friday evening we noticed a lot of local people checking in ready for a GOOD PARTY. The bar was heaving that night. Also, one minus was that it was next to impossible to get served in the bar all the time we were at the hotel. They hold a lot of business functions in the evenings and there were not enough hands to go round to serve people outside of the business diners’ club.
If we were to return to Perth again – probably will choose to stay there again, but only during the week, not at weekends.

Second stay at the Rydges - wonder why Perth CBD has no world class hotels (even the Hyatt is over-priced and bland)? The check in was laconic, unwelcoming and slow....the customer in front of me lost his temper with the clerk and I coudl see why!
Rooms are contemporary in an 'identikit' beige/brown style of the moment. They have access to a nearby health club (50metres away) and the location is pleasant and realtively quiet.
Cafe is average, although well priced for a hotel. I got frustrated with the indifferent attitude of staff, ordering a coffee at breakfst seemed a convulted process and the requested coffee never actually arrived!
An okay place to stay when work are paying, but I'm glad I wasn't spnding my own money.....average value for money.

Arriving at the hotel on 4th April, it was pouring buckets. As we were struggling to unload the luggages from the car, the porter merely stood under shelter to avoid getting drenched and offered absolutely no aid. Eventually, he gallantly stepped forward to help with the smallest bag in the car. Great location but the appalling service ruined our stay.

My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Rydges Perth. It was a belated birthday gift both us both and it was a real treat to be away from the usual household duties and enjoy all the facilities a four star hotel brings for the weekend. We enjoyed the spacious king room and breakfast on the executive floor was lovely on both mornings. We loved how peaceful it was as we watched the city below.
Dinner in CBD on both nights was fabulous. On the first night, we decided to have a pre-dinner drink in the executive floor prior to heading to dinner. We chatted with the friendly staff and a lovely lady named Sindy who discovered that we were in celebrating our belated birthdays. When we eventually ventured to dinner, the food was excellent, cooked just to our liking (my husband can be quite fussy and he was very happy on both evenings). Personally, I loved the oysters – they were just so fresh and melted in my mouth. After we ordered our coffee, we were then surprised with a piece of cake each, both topped with a candle! We were impressed with the staffs’ attention to detail to help make an already special night even better.
Staff overall were very friendly, but the team in CBD (both in the kitchen and in the restaurant) really made our stay all the more enjoyable.
Thank you Rydges Perth, we look forward to returning again next year for our birthdays!

The hotel is fairly stylish, with the spacious elevator lobbies on each floor having artwork and decor that suggest an interior designer had a hand in them.
We stayed in a Superior Room on 11th floor, which high enough that there was no exterior noise and a clear view over Perth suburbs to the North, the Rydges being taller than other buildings in that direction. There was no noticeable noise from other guests.
The room was pleasant and light. The shower was in the bath tub - not as comfortable as a walk-in shower.
Staff were polite, though we had no reason to complain about anything. The concierge was willing to call taxis which arrived promptly. There is a taxi tank just along the street.
Buffet-style breakfast can be had at the CBD restaurant at street level, with outside tables available. If you want a cooked breakfast non-buffet style, the Dome cafe a couple of blocks along the street does a good job (and has free internet).
Although we didn't try dinner at CBD, it was popular, and even opened on the Easter holidays unlike many places in Perth.
The in-room internet connection is expensive - something like $11 / hour which just doesn't make sense for users who typically make sporadic logins to check the weather or email. Considering how cheap internet connections are, the hotel should make a better offer. We used the afore-mentioned Dome cafe for our Internet connections.
Across the street is a pleasant second-hand bookstore. Rydges is convenient for the train station to the North. Many bus routes use the stops on St Georges Terrace around the back side of Rydges.
