We came in on Sunday afternoon for a week-long stay. The first room we were given smelled strongly of smoke; this is disturbing because this is a smoke free property. We opened the windows in the room and went out for a while; when we returned it was no better. We checked with the front desk and they moved us to another room right away. We found out later that someone had been smoking in that room, but they apparently had forgotten to turn on an ozone machine to clean the air.
The new room smelled so much better, but that was the best we could say. One of the drawers in the bathroom was broken; the shower surround was separated from the wall; the caulking around the tub and shower was separated as well and the bathtub wouldn't drain. There was black mold on the wall in the corner in the bathroom; the refrigerator would run for hours, even though it was turned to a lower setting, and there was something wrong with the air conditioning in another room that made such a loud noise in our room that combined with refrigerator made it very difficult to even hear the TV. The "harmonics" as we learned it was called, was so bad that at times you could feel the vibration come up through the floor and through the furniture.
Over a period of two or three days most of these were addressed, but you don't expect your room to be a work in progress when you check in.
The breakfast buffet was very good, but the light dinner wasn't worth the trip. One night it was advertised as macaroni and cheese and that is exactly what there was: one container of macaroni and cheese.
We have stayed at other Residence Inn's, most notably in Denver on Zuni. That property has set the standard for us when it comes to all Residence Inns. Their light dinner would include salad, light entree, vegetable and dessert. The Beachwood property certainly matches them when comparing staff, but the Beachwood property could learn a lot from the Denver property.
I think this is a good property, I just think we got a bad room and that there are some things that could be improved. I believe the biggest asset of this property is its' people. The staff at Beachwood were great and very responsive, friendly and out going....just don't ask for a wake-up call!!

1. Overall Impressions
This Residence Inn is in “hotel row”, close to a Hilton, an Embassy Suites, and other hotels. The hotel is at exit 29 on I-271 in Beachwood, OH. Unlike other Residence Inns, the Beachwood Residence Inn is a standard, inner-door hotel, rather than small buildings with 4 rooms each on the property. There is a “pet” area to the north of the hotel
2. Layout
The Residence Inn in Beachwood is in a fallen-”F” configuration, that is, an “F” that has fallen forward and is resting on its two prongs. There is a pool between the prongs.
3. Beds
Thin sheets but adequate. Pillows were also thin but serviceable.
4. Bathrooms
The bathroom is accessed directly from the bed and consists of a single sink in front of a mirror, with a closet directly opposite the mirror. The shower is sized adequately and properly lighted.
5. Restaurants
Utterly forgettable for breakfast only.
6. Front desk
Pleasant, and best of all, accurate.
7. Charges (internet, parking, etc)
There was no charge for WiFi on my visit in June 2008.

Just stayed at this property with my infant daughter and mom. We had a two bedroom suite, which was HUGE!! It was perfect for our family. The room was well-equipped, conveniently located and was spotlessly clean. The staff was also very helpful and always pleasant. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the morning. The breakfast room was clean, the food good, and the buffet well-stocked. We will definitely stay here the next time we are in the area.

The staff was welcoming, friendly & helpful. The rooms are great with plenty of space. We stayed in a 2-bedroom which would be great for a family. We will go back. Only suggestion is to move you car to nearest door as lay-out is a little confusing and you can be a long walk from the reception area. We paid $104 plus tax per night with AAA discount.

We just spent a wonderful night and absolutely loved the hotel! It was our first stay at a Residence Inn, and couldn't believe how well equipped the room was. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite with a gas fireplace in the living room. It was recently renovated, spotlessly clean and fresh smelling.
THE PROS- as I just said clean-very clean even though pets are accepted
-the now legendary Marriott bedding-
- 100% non-smoking(all Marriotts are)
- loud parties are not tolerated-you must sign a waiver promising no parties, too many visitors, etc.
- very quiet....located in a business park with other hotels...no noise at night
- close to I271, but not too close to hear anything
- new 27" flat screen TV's
- wireless internet all over, and computers in the lobby
-good complimentary hot and cold breakfast
-outdoor pool and whirlpool(seasonal, obviously)
-friendly, helpful staff
- full kitchen amenities
-the heat/AC worked fine, windows open, too
-2 million dollar renovations- notice in the elevator about what's going on.
THE CONS- hallways are long...could be a long walk to the elevator
- this one isn't really about the hotel itself, but I thought I'd mention it FYI.... very few dining options nearby-PF Chang's up near the highway, and a steakhouse in a nearby hotel. Other than that, you'll have to drive for other dining options
In closing, I highly recommend this hotel.
