I've stayed at the SAS Seaside probably 10 or 15 times in the last several years. The experience is consistently good. The hotel is a bit weird in that it is an old cannery, so some of the rooms have pillars in the middle of the room and generally strange feng shui; but I prefer the Seaside to most other dowtown or close-to-downtown hotels in Helsinki (it's a 10 minute walk to city center).
You can ask to upgrade to a business class suite, which is like 20 or 30 euros more -- and usually you get a much nicer room that way.
What you want is to get a room FACING THE WATER -- those are the nicest in my opinion.
The decor is modern and pretty cool. The restaurant/room service is quite good, if a bit repetitive if you are staying for awhile -- but good. The breakfast, like most in Helsinki, is awesome.
The staff are great; very friendly and helpful. Everyone speaks perfect english.

Very friendly hotel staff & great location, tram stops right outside hotel, very convenient, leaves for downtown every 10 mins, short trip. Rooms are standard, but very clean & comfortable. Great breakfast, large selection of food & again, staff extremely welcoming & helpful. I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past & would stay there again. Walking distance to Tallin ferry as well. Highly recommend!

I recently stayed at this hotel on a business trip to Helsinki. The room was clean and compact. Even though I was up most of the night with jetlag, I noticed that the hotel was very quiet at night and when I was eventually able to sleep, I slept well. Noise from the street in front of the hotel or from other guests was not obvious...very quiet. Breakfast included a number of items from Europe as well as the obligatory American breakfast items like bacon, sausage and eggs. Front desk staff were helpful when I needed a taxi to the airport or a plug adapter for my laptop.

Stayed for 3 nights at the end of our holiday. The radisson seaside is an average hotel with all modcons but looking very tired. It is located away from the town centre, about 15 min walk but there is a tram stop outside which is by far and away the easiest way to travel around Helsinki.
The reception area of the hotel is large and airy and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a car and paid the quite high car parking charge with the hotel be warned of the fiendish one way system round the hotel that took us a few times round to find the best route in but got there eventually. The corridors to the rooms are looking tired with dirty carpets, the room itself was your average
business hotel and we overlooked the Tallink ferry terminal and the canal which was ok.
Breakfast was taken in a large room that at times was extremely busy and hard work to get your breakfast but there is a very good choice of food to be had. We also ate in the hotel restaurant one evening, the food was good but the service terrible. On reflection i would not stay there if i visited Helsinki again.
