We found that there was a fairly limited choice when it came to good accommodation in Dover, a busy port town in need of a makeover. We decided to play it safe and go with a chain, and happily the Ramada turned out to be a good choice. Check-in was professional and welcoming. Our executive room was clean and modern and not overly floral (always a good thing!), and included everything a good hotel should - a full size bath, hairdryer, extra pillows, tea & coffee making facilities, bar fridge (not, I'm happy to say, filled with the usual mix of expensive drinks and chocolates). The Wi-Fi worked without problem, with a good signal and download speeds. Being a little out of the hustle and bustle of Dover meant we were able to have a quiet night in after a long day hiking along the white cliffs and a good restful sleep. The staff were very helpful, parking free, and food was of a reasonable standard (if a little expensive for the basic overall quality). Late check-out of 12 noon was also a bonus.

My husband and I stayed in the Ramada Hotel over night to allow us to catch the ferry early Saturday morning. After a days work and a long drive we reached the Ramada to find a warm welcome and fast check in. On checking in we booked a table for dinner as were very hungry. Our room was lovely and with a power shower in the en suite we were set.
The hotel was very quiet so did not seem to have many staff working. Took 5 mins and a strole from my husband to get served at the bar, which was not much over pub prices. With the choice of seats in the resturant we opted for steak and the Indian buffet. The indian was lovely but the steak was barely chewable. After a long drive it didn't seem to matter much though.
The only thing I will say is the bedrooms are far too warm. We turned the temperature right down and the fans off and still ubable to sleep as felt suffercated. I eventually opened the window and 4am to let some air in.
All in all the hotel was a very pleasent place to stay. Rooms were perfect for a night or two. Toiletries were supplied for those that packed in a hurry and i would go back if was in the area again. Was much more relaxing than the 3 hour drive we would have had from 3am saturday morning

This was a bad experience from the beginning...first I made reservations over the phone, they try to book my room for almost 20 pounds more than what I found on the internet, so then they all of a sudden were happy to book the room for me and my family at a lower price. We stayed for 1 night traveling from the Dover port to Calias the next morning and thought this would be a good stay and location and we would take advantage of thier breakfast buffet, but be weary, they charged us for the breakfeast buffet after assuring me that it was served promptly at 6:30 am, however, it was not. The buffet was not served until 7 am, and we had to be gone by then to catch our ferry, so I asked the 1 staff member I could find Michael if they could drop that charge and credit us back since they assured us it would be ready and it was not, only the fruit was ready at 630 am. So after Michael telling us that he would have a mgr take care of it later, me and my family left to proceed to the ferry feeling ok....
but when I called back today, the mgr said that he would not credit it back, that we had been charged and did not even apologize. Service
here was bad, communication was bad, and most of all it really bothers me that they would not refund or credit us back even after it was thier fault assuring me before I purchased it the night before that breakfast is served at 630 am for buffet. These people will steal your money, now I have lost 20 pounds. THey will lie to you and say anything to pacify you to buy or purchase from then, when in the end they will not help. Horrible, dishonest. I just cant say how horrible this experience was.

On arrival for a three night stay we were offered a superior room for extra payment. We specifically asked if the room would be quiet and were absolutely assured it would be, so went ahead with the superior room. The extremely loud disco music started that evening and when we complained the receptionist agreed it was very loud (he couldn't hear the phone ring), but hoped it would finish soon after midnight. It eventually did, but the party spilled out to the room opposite ours and continued unabated, despite our request to the occupants to keep the noise down. We again complained to reception and the noise stopped at 3.30 am. The next day we found that the iron in the room did not work and the lead was in a very dangerous condition. This was reported verbally and in wrtiting, but nothing was done. We still had to pay the extra for the room and despite sending a letter of complaint to the management no response has ever been received. Probably an indication of their attitude to customer care.

Stayed one night--straight after our wedding (as did quite a few of our guests). Dropped bags off in the morning-no where to keep them except behind the reception desk. They were overbooked--many of our guests had to go elsewhere (how does this happen with computerised booking?). Arrived late (1am) to be "greeted" by the grumpiest, most unfriendly receptionist (male) I have ever encountered. No "Hello" or "How are you?" despite the fact that we were both in our wedding clothes. Didn't look me in the eye at all. Mumbled and took 5 minutes to find our booking. From what I hear, when the minibus with our remaining guests arrived 10 minutes later he was even worse.....
Room OK--and this was a deluxe. No minibar--when queried the following morning they told me that "guests didn't want them" though you do get them in family rooms. Breakfast Ok but then one receptionist to check out 40+ guests on Sunday morning resulting in a 30 minutes wait. Some staff work hard (an extra check out person was eventually found) but organisationally its a shambles. If you're catching the ferry, there are nicer and cheaper places to stay in Dover.
