We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights recently in June 2008, as we were attending a friends wedding in a nearby location.
Upon entering the lobby, we were impressed with the decor and layout of the hotel. Good efficient check-in procedure and our room was very nice, clean, good standard and quiet.
The dining room for breakfast was of a high standard and the choice of breakfast was excellent.
Ample parking in a very good area added to our satisfaction as we only had to travel 20 minutes away.
We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel.

Me and my wife went to York for a long weekend getaway. Our objective was relaxation, visting historic York. Both of our objectives were exceedingly met.
The hotel is located a couple of miles from the city centre historic cites in the countryside, so it is very peaceful. Since it is located a couple of miles away from the city center own vehicle is recommended.
The staff at the hotel is very friendly and offer excellent service. We had a breakfast plan included which is highly recommended and filling. The bar and restaurant onsite is also very good.

This 3* hotel was not great. We were given a room that was clearly for families - pretty run down, separate beds (!), and quite tatty.
The supposed cocktail bar did not serve cocktails, crisps, or nuts.
The only good thing here was the food in the restaurant.
We decided to check out a day early, rather than stay another night. Wouldnt recommend it.

Spent New Year at the Ramada York. To sum it up. Beautiful hotel with great potential, but poor service.
Rang up prior to booking twice to ensure I was allocated a particular room, when I got there it was allocated to some one else as there was no note on the system. Very annoying.
Only eat breakfast at the Hotel which again was poor. Cold beans, food had been standing there for ages in grease. On one morning, there wasn’t even any bacon or tomatoes!!
Room was lovely, had a suite and it was very spacious with a lovely spa bath. Cleaners didn’t replenish simple things like toilet rolls and we had to ask on the second day for some to be taken to the room.
As we were going back up to our room on the last morning after breakfast, to add a cherry on the top of a bad stay, reception had cancelled our room card so we had to trapse down to reception to get it sorted!!!
This Hotel has the potential to be wonderful, however the staff and service let it down!!

We booked this break through a special offer in one of the daily papers, excellent price 3 nights for the price of one, with breakfast, booked it then read the reviews, was slightly worried. But should not have been, we originally wanted just somewhere to stay to do the touristy bit around york. The Park and ride just being 5 to 10 mins walk up the road, was brilliant buses every ten minutes into the city centre . We only ate in the hotel for breakfast, absolutely spot on, ref the remarks previously about tea/coffee/toast........ just ask who ever shows you to your table for them, before they manage to escape. We were accomodated in a very large family room or a corner of the hotel, views not fantastic one was with nothing at all but worse things happen at sea. the room was exceptionally hot on an evening but just turned the radiator down by the valve on the rad itself (not rocket science), We ate in the local pub (wacky warehouse) (family break) plus two for one, No complaints and family pub, last orders for kids meals though 8pm. Drinks at hotel where not extortionate £6.40 (small glass of rose and pint of bods) so had few drinks in room first anyway. Apparently the hotel had refurb early on in year which was evident, overall staff fantastic, break fantastic, going back with just the mrs for weekend with out the kids......... just dont smoke in rooms, got evacuated twice because of some inconsiderate person having a crafty smoke without thinking, and set alarms off,
