Peoria sucks
Guest name: zinadog, Chicago
Last time I visited Peoria, we stayed at the Ramada and it was terrible. Basically, I wanted to sit by the closed pool (it was midnight) because I had hiccups and looking at the water sometimes stops them. I was alone, quiet, and not drinking. The worm of a nightclerk told me to leave. When I tried to explain why I was by the pool, he whipped out his cell and called 911. I went back to our room immediately. Three minutes later four Peoria cops put me in handcuffs and then threw me, my wife, our two daughters (crying hysterically) and our dog out into the night for trespassing. They never explained how we could be trespassing when we paid for the room (Ramada never apologized nor refunded our money).
Bottom line--Do NOT visit Peoria unless you like rabid cops and crooked hotels.

My family and I stayed here for a USTA benefit competition for St. Jude. I made my reservation a few weeks in advance and was quoted a rate of $79 / night. When I checked in, they wanted to charge me $109 / night. I told them if I was quoted $109 I would never have booked the room. After minutes of arguing, they gave me the room for $79 / night but it wasn't worth even that.
Right away, we noticed the hotel was very cold. It was close to 0°F outside but you would think you would get some relief from the weather once indoors. The hotel has a huge (three story) atrium with rooms along the north and south sides of the hotel.
After getting off the elevator, I noticed a sheet of wallpaper that was held on the wall by (and I am not joking) staples. It was stapled to the wall. We got to our room and the thermostat was turned down as low as possible, so our room registered a wonderful 40°F although it was probably colder since the thermometer only went that low. The bathroom was clean, but in terrible shape.
We decided to try the restaurant while we waited for the room to warm up. The restaurant was so cold we decided to leave after we were seated, which took about 5 minutes even though there were only two other parties in the restaurant. We ruled out room service because we were afraid the food would be cold by the time we got it. We figured it would be worth the cold weather to sit down in a restaurant with heat.
Upon arriving back at the hotel, our room was finally a more reasonable 64°F. The beds weren't too bad, neither were the channel offerings if these are important to you. However, my daughter took her shoes off and ended up with soaking wet stockings because the carpet in the entry way of the room was wet. It looked like maybe they had cleaned the carpet but it didn't dry even upon our checkout two days later.
The Ramada serves a full hot breakfast and the food was pretty good. The only problem is that the plates were so darned cold that the food got cold before we even sat down. And of course, since the hotel itself is freezing, it didn't help.
Showers were interesting. I took mine before breakfast and didn't have any problems. The rest of my gang took theirs after breakfast and it took quite a long time as the water kept getting very cold.
We stayed one more night and my daughters decided to go swimming that night and the following morning. The weather was a little better outside so the hotel seemed a little warmer, but we still experienced the same problems at breakfast. The girls had a good time in the pool.
Check out was normal but I vowed never to go back to another Ramada.
I wish I could say this was the end of my terrible experience, but unfortunately it was not. I kept my youngest daughter home from school the next day with some kind of hive-ish rash that she developed from neck to knees. I can't say for sure what it was but being that she's never experienced anything like that, the only thing we can come up with is something having to do with the hotel.

We just stayed at the Ramada this past weekend when we were in town for a Tumbling meet. What a horrible hotel! I must admit, I was SHOCKED at the condition of this hotel! I am from the area and had a Prom here some 15 years ago and it looks as though they haven't done a thing to update the joint since! It was FREEZING in the pool area. Granted, it is JANUARY, but if you looked up at the ceiling, you could actually SEE where the air was coming in because there was frost. Our room had stains on the walls. The tub drain had a problem (not quite sure what it was, but the stopper was hanging out). The counter needed replaced in the bathroom due to all of the stains and dings. The coffee pot didn't work. Don't even get me started on the mattresses! I think my rear end hit the floor as soon I got in the bed, the mattress SAGGED so badly. Horrible, horrible, horrible....stay somewhere else!

I recently stayed at this hotel for a business trip and spent 4 nights here. On the outside it looks like a pretty nice hotel. The inside is a different matter however. The entire hotel has a odd smell. I thought it might be a heavy chlorine smell from the pool but it seems to saturate the entire hotel, even in the rooms. I had to run my AC all day to help minimize the smell and circulate the air. The walls also were stained either by water or some other yellowing liquid. The bathroom counter was stained and there was a patch of mold growing in the caulk behind the faucet. The toilet sits a little close to the counter making the TP hard to reach. The fixtures in the shower were a wee bit antiquated and moldy. The bathmat was scuzzy. The phones in the room had dirt crusted inbetween the numbers. The office chair in the room also had two brown stains. The outlet on the lamp also blew out when I connected my laptop. Thankfully there was no damage. The wireless internet was almost unusable until 8-9pm, the connection continued to drop and gave very low performance during the day and seemed to magically clear up at night. Probably just needs a faster ISP and a hardware upgrade. One other potentially frightening thing is that I woke up one morning and my door was partially opened and only stopped by the chain i put up the night before. So be wary of the locks. The sheets and pillow cases did have a clean look however the smell penetrated everything in the room. i will also confirm the VERY dark atrium. They did not turn on the lights throughout my entire stay. Monday night thru Friday morning. The pool looked nice, however i dared not to use it based on everything else. They do have a few exercise machines available that look in decent shape.
Now for those people that are considering to have a meetings here, if you have an image to keep up avoid, avoid, avoid. It's pretty much the same thing in their conference rooms. Albeit the smell is less It still seem kinda dank. The bathrooms are ok however they need to do a bit better job painting the doors on the stall as some lewd spraypainting was still very visible.after an attempt to cover it up.
The one thing that I was pleased with is the front desk employees. They are very receptive and friendly.

This hotel has to be one of the worst. They mix smoking and nonsmoking rooms together and the smell comes in the vents and under the door. There was mold in the wastecan. The spigots in the bathroom were very hard to turn on. You had to use both hands to turn the spigot on. The hotel had a musty odor to it and the chlorine smell from the pool was very strong.
The elevators were used by both hotel guests and the staff.
