Guest name: shrippy, Ontario
Guest type: Older travelers
stayed in Jul 2008
pros:
close to highway
breakfast included
large, clean outdoor pool
well kept grounds
sufficient and well planned parking
staff quick to respond to guest's needs
bathrooms clean with excellent showerhead
Good air conditioning unit
cons:
tried to book online- inaccurate inventory displayed. Called hotel directly and received different information than website.
room decor outdated by a couple decades- wear shows.
in-room coffe terrible, and coffee maker very used
cable TV, but very poor connection
uncomfortable pillows (bed not bad though)
Smell in room- musty and just not fresh
Staff, though helpful, always appeared harrased or slightly curt
Breakfast tastes alright, but a slightly larger quantity would have been nice.
Worst part- the price! The price you pay for the product is outrageous. I understand that Gananoque is a tourist town and when we stayed in July, it is tourist season but this hotel is incredibly overpriced for what they offer their guests. We left our booking a little late but next time we're definetly going to plan earlier, and pay a little more and stay at one of Gananoque's
beautiful B & B's.

The property is ok in that the staff is nice and the rooms are clean. The location is convenient to the river and casino. In general you don't get good value for your money in lodging in Gan. and this place is pretty expensive for such outdated rooms.
Restaurant Review

Although we didn’t stay at this hotel we had the misfortune of stopping to eat dinner there. The empty parking lot was our first clue that something wasn’t right but we decided to try it anyway. What a mistake, the food was absolutely disgraceful. The French onion soup au gratin served to my wife was a bowl of fowl salty liquid completely devoid of any cheese (???au gratin???) and the fettuccini alfredo had obviously sat in the bowl since long before we arrived for dinner. The fettuccini was served cold and had a crust on the top of it. The “chef” did not even make an effort to stir it before sending out. A fresh strawberry was added on top for presentation but nothing could hide the fact that this meal was not freshly prepared. I have never refused to eat food served to me in a restaurant before, but this food was not fit for consumption by man or beast.

The motel was obviously bought by the Ramada chain some time back. It's the older motor lodge-style set up with six room units arrayed around an outdoor pool with the registration and restaurant facing the street.
I got a room through online booking for C$98./night, including breakfast. My room was very clean and the bathroom had been updated.
The towels were on the smallish side, but fine.
The only 2 quibbles I have are: (1) scum stain on the bottom of the shower curtain. And (2). The gratis breakfast consists of scrambled eggs, toast, choice of bacon or sausages, but only water, coffee or tea served with the breakfast. I don;t drink coffee or tea and water for breakfast is lame. Adding a small glass of juice would be appropriate.
All in all, a fair deal for the price, though I wouldn't want to pay much more.

We stayed just one night having booked on the net. The check-in staff were very friendly, clearly explained where the room was and about the restaurant and gave us that day's newspaper to take.
The rooms are older-style with external doors, all on ground level with a parking space in front. The room was quite large with dark furniture and soft furnishing so seemed a little gloomy with the usual inadequate lighting. The bathroom was also dated, though both it and the room were very clean.
We ate in the restaurant - decent fare in the evening. Next morning there was an included breakfast of toast, home-fries, bacon or sausage plus coffee/tea where again the service was friendly & good.
Overall we would say the hotel was a little dated, but obviously well-run and clean.
