This hotel is interesting, to say the least. The pool is inside the building, and there is a definite cholrine smell to the place. The slot machines are near the pool, and they seem to be a favorite for locals. (One lady apparently routinely brings her little doxie.) The restaurant is just average, and we eat elsewhere. The rooms are large, clean, but those nearer the slots can be noisy. People who are annoyed by smoke won't like this hotel. This is a hotel for stopping for the night--not one to choose for a long vacation.

I stayed 4 nights for work.
This hotel has an interesting layout. The central atrium includes the restaurant/pub, slot machines, and the pool. The first and second floor rooms line up on either side and open into the common area. They also have rooms located in a building across the street. I stayed in the main building on the second floor. I would recommend getting a room in the main building. As someone had previously mentioned, crossing the street can be dicey, especially in inclement weather.
The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The kitchen and housekeeping staff rarely said hi.
The room was fairly spacious but was a bit worn and dated. The shower handle fell off when I tried to use it but they quickly sent someone to fix it and I didn't have a problem the rest of my stay. Other than that, everything else worked fine. The room had a small frig, microwave, and coffeemaker.
The free breakfast had a decent selection with scrambled eggs, sausage, cereals, pastries, donuts, waffles, pancakes, bread and fruit along with milk and juice.
Smoking is allowed in the common areas so when you leave your room you get hit with pretty heavy smoke until you get outside. Unlike others, I didn't have any problems with smoke in my room as long as my door was closed.
I've been to Vegas more than twenty times as well as other casinos. Although I usually play table games and I'm not a heavy gambler, I often play some slots. I must say that I've never had such bad luck on slots as I did here. Maybe if the owners read this they'll loosen up the slots a bit. I rarely saw more than 2-3 other players. When I visited the Hotel Nevada, the place was packed.
As an aside, there's not much to do in Ely but the town is surrounded by snow covered mountains and the view is gorgeous. Also, the Nevada state record brown trout was caught at a nearby lake.
Overall, just from driving around town, I would say this is one of the nicer places to stay in Ely. There really aren't that many choices.

On a spontaneous trip on highway 50 into Utah, we stopped in Ely just before New Year's. We stayed in the building across the street. Accommodations were simple, but comfortable and clean. We received a free hot breakfast included in our room rate. We had our dog along for the trip and he was more than welcome. The pillows were a bit flat, so I brought mine in from the car to use with those on the bed. Unfortunately, I forgot it. On the way back from Salt Lake, we stopped at the Copper Queen Ramada again. They had saved my pillow for me. We also got free Bingo cards and won $300 playing nickel video poker as we played Bingo. Can't beat that! On the second stay, we stayed in the main building where the casino was. We did not have any problems with noise. Also, the owner leaves each guest a friendly welcome note, complimentary bottled water and Grandma's brand cookies plus an offer to provide any forgotten toiletries. I was very pleased with the service and attention to the customer at this property. The breakfast was simple, hot and freshly prepared. It varied. One morning, it was sausage and scrambled eggs with French toast or cereal, pastries, fruit or yogurt. Coffee, milk and juice are available. Another morning instead of scrambled eggs, it was hashbrown omelette casserole. It was really good. We also had dinner at the Italian restaurant upstairs. It was acceptable. Give it a try if you're in Ely. The staff is great.

I stayed at the Ramada Copper Queen hotel casino for one night. Checked in around 9pm, and I was quite apprehensive because of some of the reviews here on trip advisor. I was pleasantly suprised, the front desk staff was attentive and courteous, the hotel appeared clean and well kept. Our room was very clean, and well maintained, with every amenity we could wish for. The linens were clean, fresh and almost new, the bathroom was spotless and everything worked. The swiming pool was a treat, indoors and nicely heated, as was the hot tub. The buffet breakfast in the morning was first rate, with eggs, and sausage, and an attentive wait staff. I personally wouldn't stay anywhere else if traveling through Ely.

We got the last room (4PM on a Monday) and spent the night trying to sleep. The room was about 10' from the slots and the trucks outside the paper thin window made it tough to sleep. Had dinner and breakfast (dinner was $11 for spaghetti and meatballs and breakfast, which was fine, was included in the $130/night)
No free drinks while playing the slots and service, other than the front desk which was fine, really sucked. I don't think anyone wanted to work there - they sure didn't act like it.
Won't stay there again, and given the choices in Ely, I probably will avoid staying in the town again.
