We arrived at approx midnight, after a 12 hour drive, and found that this hotel is home to teenagers drinking and partying all night long. Teens hanging out in the parking lot, hanging out in the hallways with their hotel doors open and music blaring. No respect for the property - ceiling tiles on our floor had been pushed out, garbage and empty beer bottles, etc in the parking lot. We stayed here because we went through Priceline and this is the hotel that accepted out offer - we were paying over $100 a night ...FOR THIS?? Against out better judgement we stayed the first night and we were going to leave the second day but since we had already paid for it we decided to stay. Bad decision - one, it was a Saturday evening so there were even more teenagers drinking and partying...at about 11PM our remote to the tv quit working so we called the front desk. After no one coming up we went down to the front desk and the guy at the front desk tells us WE need to go to the other desk across the parking lot and get batteries for the remote. We are paying that much for a room and then they want us to get our own remote and./or batteries to make it work?Told them we were not going to get our own remote and left it there. Went down about 15 minutes later and were told that someone was on there way to bring us a new remote. After waiting another 10 minutes and no one showing up with the remote we went back down to the desk and they gave us the remote with batteries - what happened to the guy who was supposedly bringing us the remote?
Bad hotel, bad service, staff doesnt care...dont stay here! Hotel is also very outdated as far as furniture, bedding, curtains, etc.

To provide some background, I booked a family weekend getaway with my wife and two kids for Niagara Falls back on April 17, 2008. As a frequent user of Red Tag Vacations (www.redtag.ca) for flights I decided to check if they had any deals on hotels in the area. I was happy to find a deal for our two night stay at what was thought to be a reputable hotel, the Ramada Coral Inn. I initially had reservations about booking this deal since it was based on the stay being pre-paid. I had stayed in other Ramada hotels in the past without any problems and since it was a certainty that we would be making the trip, I booked and pre-paid for the stay.
Upon arriving at the hotel approximately 9:30-9:45pm on May 22nd, we checked into the room (# 330) and found that the room had a ‘musty’ odour. I surveyed the room and found dust on 2 of the lamps, a broken vanity light bulb in the washroom. I immediately returned to the front desk and spoke with the agent, and asked if there were any other rooms available and indicated the issues that I encountered. The agent handed me the key to a new room (#326). Before returning to room #330 to move my family, I stopped by room 326 to check it out and found the odour even stronger in that room. Due to the allergies of both myself and my 4 year old son I knew we would not be able to sleep comfortably in that room so I returned to the desk to get it switched. Upon returning to the desk, the agent was not available but could be overheard in the back office, obviously on a personal call, swear profanely at someone on the phone - I was shocked but glad that my 4 year old was not with me to witness this behavior. After waiting at the desk for close to about 8 minutes or so the agent glanced at the desk and saw me standing there and decided to come out to the desk.
I informed her that room 326 had a stronger odour than 330 and would like to be moved again. She suggested that she accompany me to check on a few other rooms to see if they were acceptable. We visited rooms 327, 328 & 329. I decided to take room 327 as it was the least ‘musty’ of the three, the agent even admitted that there was an odour in the rooms.
After moving my family to room 327 and thinking we could settle in for the night we had to move yet again because upon turning down the sheets, my older son found a bug, similar to a ladybug under one of the pillows. I contacted the front desk and informed the agent that we would like to change rooms. In an effort to save time, we just decided to move back to room 330 since we were tired from a long day and just wanted to go to bed.
On Friday May 23rd, my older son called the front desk to inquire if breakfast was included with the hotel stay and was told it was not, so we decided to go further into town to get breakfast. After we returned from breakfast about 11:30am we noticed that the room had been serviced and was actually impressed that it was done so quickly and then remembered that the hotel was not at full occupancy. In preparation for our planned activities we noticed that the bag with snacks/ groceries that we had brought was nowhere to be found. In addition, my son could not find his running shoes. I immediately called down to the room and spoke with an agent and informed her of what had happened. I stated to her that the housekeeper may have mistaken the bag as garbage and had thrown it out. The bag was of fair size, a large shopping bag, and contained unopened juice boxes, fruit, unopened chips, crackers, candy, etc. that was purchased for the trip and duration of our stay. From previous experience, when travelling with kids, you can never have enough of these.
After a few minutes, I went down to the front desk to see the agent and to find out if she had heard from housekeeping about the snacks and the running shoes. I requested if I could check room 327 to see if they were left behind when we had switched rooms the previous night. I was given a key to check the room but found nothing. The agent informed me she had placed a call to the housekeeping department and would let me know if they have them. After about an hour or so, the agent contacted me in the room and informed me that they had found the shoes and I could pick them up at the front desk; however, the bag of snacks/ groceries was not found. She assumed what I had thought earlier, that the housekeeper thought it was garbage and removed it. She stated she spoke with someone and that the housekeepers were gone and the garbage was already collected for the day so there was no way to check to see if that was indeed what had happened. She suggested I contact the manager who would be in after 3pm that day.
I returned to the hotel about 4pm and left a voicemail for the general manager. My voicemail was returned by the Front Office Manager. I informed him of what had transpired regarding the bag of snacks/ groceries. I mentioned nothing of my experience upon check in the previous night since in my opinion that was taken care of and we had no problem with the actual room that we had. I informed him of my suspicion that the housekeeper may have mistaken the bag as garbage and was in no way implying that the bag was stolen from the room. He informed me that he would contact the housekeeping department and get back to me.
He contacted me about an hour later and informed me that he was unable to contact the housekeeping manager but wanted to offer me an upgraded room with a Jacuzzi. I told him that I appreciated his offer but had no issue with the room, we had already spent one night there, we were unpacked and didn’t want to move again. I indicated to him that the inconvenience that I have is that I would now have to go back to the grocery store and re-purchase the items that we had brought for the trip which amounted to approximately $50 Canadian. I suggested that an offer of dinner or breakfast was more appropriate since the issue was me having to spend additional money to replace the snacks/ groceries. He contacted me later that evening and stated he could not offer dinner or breakfast and that he would get back to me when he was in contact with the housekeeping manager.
On Saturday May 24th after not hearing from the front desk manager when we returned from breakfast, I went to the front desk and requested to speak with him. We were told by the front desk agent that he was at the other Ramada next door and would come over and meet us shortly. He met with us briefly and stated he would like the housekeeping manager to meet with us as well. He left and returned with the housekeeping manager who stated that the housekeeper informed them that nothing was in the room when it was cleaned. This revelation was particularly shocking to me since that would mean they were implying that we were lying! They both went on to state that the housekeeper has worked at the hotel for years and had never had an issue. Myself and my wife were amazed that these managers were implying that we were lying in front of our kids! They even went as far to suggest that the only other option for us was to get the police involved since there is nothing more they could do. To quote him “I can’t do too much, I can’t do too much.” He then offered us a free night’s stay and requested my address and contact information. I stated to him that we were already at the hotel so if he wanted to offer a free night’s stay we would accept it for that night. He stated, “No, No…it would be for in the future. The hotel is sold out tonight.” His tone of voice and demeanor were very rude and insulting. He then stated that they had to get back to work, they were both very busy and that they could not stay to talk with us any longer and left to return to the other hotel next door.
My wife and I sat in the lobby in total bewilderment about what had transpired. We could not believe we were being treated this way. After a few minutes I suggested we go over to the other hotel to see the front desk manager again. His previous offer of a free night’s stay then changed a few minutes later - he was willing to give us a room for the night at a discounted rate of 50% off the regular rate (guess the hotel was not sold out after all).
As I reflected on the events that had transpired since I began my stay I was seriously contemplating contacting the police and getting them involved but decided against it as it would rob myself and my family of some quality time during the last day of our weekend trip.
Since returning home, I have also contemplated just putting the whole experience behind me but found it impossible to do so. The fact that these managers of a reputable hotel chain implied that paying guests in their hotel would manufacture a story in the presence of their kids did not sit well with me. We left the hotel feeling humiliated and still feel that the service or lack thereof, was not reflective of the genuine hospitality that we have experienced at several other hotels in the area that we have stayed in over the years.

We booked a 2 night stay at the Ramada Coral for May 2-4 Weekend! THe pictures on the ramada website are very deceiving, as the rooms looked decent. We walked into our room, and there was an awful smell. The carpets were all stained and tearing and lifting. The wall paper was ripping off the walls. We lifted the sheets to find hair on the pillows. The bathrooms were not clean at all, none of us were comfortable to stay there. When we spoke to the manager, he said, "Well you get what you pay for!!" After much complaining, he offered us a discounted rate, However we opted to leave the hotel. The hotel was kind enough to refund our money, and off we went to another hotel.

The worst experience ever endured on earth - too numerous to list - everyone before me has got it right!!!!!!!
I have traveled to 145 countries, all 7 continents, and have logged I would say about 10 million miles on airplanes and I must say that this "hotel" is the second worst place I have ever stayed in - only a hostel in Rio was worse, but just slightly.
Backpacking thru China and staying in hostels was 100 times better!!!!!
Hard to believe that this hotel gets away with all the health code violations. The worst part was having 2 cockroaches - 1 big, 1 small - run across my bed as I was packing up to leave the next day - 3 hours sleep was, also, a major issue due to who knows what!!!
Stay away from this miserable excuse for a hotel!!!!!!

It is shameful to call this place a Ramada Resort. It is run down, outdated, wallpaper falling off the walls, bath towels like sandpaper, pool is cold and pool room even colder, hot tub lukewarm, sauna not working, no overnight front desk staff, just a night watchman/security guard who we only ever saw spend his time smoking at the front entrance. The hallways reeked of stale beer and smoke and the walls are paper thin. No hot water in the morning to have a shower. Don't be misled by the Ramada name, it's deceiving.
