We were in town for a family emergency. When we booked the room, we were given the "hospital discount rate." A couple days later, we extended our stay and were assured that the same rate would apply.
Upon checkout, however, I discovered there were three different rates, and my bill was about $100 higher than expected. I inquired why. Only the first two nights (of the 4 originally booked) were at the quoted rate. I was told that weekend rates are "always" higher. I asked how she figured Wed & Thurs were weekend nights. Next, she pretended like she didn't believe me about the discounted rate, but with the first two nights clearly discounted to the rate I mentioned, it was clear that I was telling the truth, but that somewhere along the line, someone had changed their mind because the discount had been deleted on the sheet AFTER it had been given.
Eventually, I convinced her to call her boss, who told her to fix it. However, she didn't know how to do that in the computer, so we were instructed to return at a later time or just call when we got back to our state. We opted to return later that day, although we were perturbed about the disruption to our travel plans.
When we returned, the discount rate had been applied to all but the final night, which was a weekend. I asked again and was again told that weekend rates are "always" higher. I noted my displeasure about being quoted one thing and charged another, but there was no more budging on their part.
My advice: either pay cash so you can withhold the added amount or get it in writing and ALWAYS check the bill. They would only show my page 3; had the higher rate appeared on page 1 or 2, it would have been more difficult for me to detect.

We booked two rooms for two nights in the AmercInn to attend a funeral in the family. First, forget the high-speed internet they offer. Signal was so weak in my room on the second floor that I had to resort to dial-up. When we returned from a service the 2nd day my room door was open. Nothing was missing, however I did voice a complaint to the maid on the floor and she said she was sure she closed the door securely when she put in fresh towels.
I am still trying to figure out the joke, as there were no fresh towels in either of our rooms, nor coffee, nor fresh soap, and no housekeeping. Beds were still unmaid and waste baskets unemptied. I closed the door and went to get Ice, only to find when I returned that my key wouldn't work. Neither would the keys to the other room. The front desk's answer to this was that sometimes keys demagnetize. That would mean that three separate keys held by different folks had demagnetized. Humbug! I'm of the opinion that all room locks are probably deactivated daily shortly after check-out time and guests staying longer than a day are ignored. It's probably easier to do a global delete. So what if this 73 year old had to go back down to the first floor for another key. No elevators in this place either.
The help ranged from indifferent to postively bored. Looked like everyone was afraid of doing too much to make the guest happy.
One more thing, there is only one Ice Machine in the place and it is on the first floor.
I visited the AmericInn two years ago, and it is apparent that it has gone steadily downhill since then.

This is a very good hotel for the local area. The hotel is fairly new. Hotel staff is usually helpful, although like anywhere, it depends on who you get. Convenient to Hwys 34 and 61. Is a block from Westland Mall, a very small local mall but it does have a good food court, ATM, etc. There is also a Target and Farm King across the street. Not close to downtown, but not much happens there anyway - except Steamboat Days in June and the mall has a shuttle that runs down and back. The rooms are good sized and clean. Overall decor is very nice and home-like. The lobby area is done in a country theme and has sofas, chairs, tables and a fireplace that is nice to relax. Most rooms have a mini-fridge and microwave, but make sure you ask. They also have suites w/ fireplaces and whirlpools at additional costs. There is an indoor pool and hot tub, that is average - nothing outstanding though. For the best rates, their website usually has the best deals, hovering around $65 for a standard double room. Breakfast is the normal continental fare. Overall, the quality and price make it a good choice, especially since some of the more "pricey" hotels are run-down and expensive!

The whole family spent the weekend, and we had a great getaway. Shopping, entertainment and restaurants are close. Can't wait for the next time.
