Thank God for the Ramada. We had an red eye flight and was able to check into our room at 11 am.
We were pleasantly surprised when we got our room. It had 2 rooms with 2 beds and 1 sofa bed so it fit our family of 5 perfectly.
The location was great - close to everything and convenient to all the attractions. For the breakfast they served waffles (you make it), yogurt, real OJ, fruits, scrambled eggs and pastries. My boys loved the food and usually I didn't have to feed them a big lunch since they stocked up on breakfast! I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again!

Just came back from a great weekend with my family (2 little kids 2 and 6) at the Ramada.
Breakfast is great, pool is HEATED and landscape was recently remodeled; its beautiful.
We didnt find the room/beds too small, bathroom is small though.
For us is a high priority to find a suite with real separate areas so we parents dont have to go to bed at kids time; this hotel provided that.
I was concerned about the freeway noise; so when we arrived requested a room away from the freeway. Didnt heard a car.
It has a great location too, near to restaurants, supermarket, drugstore, legoland..
Bottom line, for under (or very close) $100, free (good) breakfast, heated pool, clean room, separate areas.. doesnt get better than that.

We stayed at the Ramada Inn in the middle part of our vacation to California from England. We had not visited Carlsbad before so we were unsure of the area, so we thought we would be safe in choosing this hotel.
The room was quite small compared to other hotels but clean and with lots of extras like the fridge and microwave and the safe. The tea and coffee making facilities were a benefit too. We had a fair bit of noise from the interstate but it was bearable.
The location is great with lots of restaurants and shops nearby.
Our stay coincided with Spring Break and the weekend was very busy. The breakfast room is very small and we abandoned our attempt to get breakfast on the first morning as it was just too busy. We did manage to get breakfast the following morning and there was a good choice. It just needs a bigger location for it.
The staff were really friendly and helpful and we found all of the locals to be really friendly, especially in nearby Oceanside.
The hotel is easy to find, in a great location and is excellent value for money. I would certainly stay there again if we ever visit Carlsbad again.

My family stayed here for one night to visit Legoland. We checked in at 7pm and checked out at 9 am. The stay was too short that really nothing much could bother us. The room is very small, but you got everything you need: Iron, hair dryer, microwave, safe, refrigerator, coffer machine, complimentary coffee & tea etc. The motel is old, but things are pretty well kept. Room was clean. The staffs were helpful and nice. Breaksfast was great, include waffles, cheese omlets, biscuits with susage gravy, fruits, yogurts, etc....We were there during Spring break and the motel was fully booked. The breakfast area was small so go early to bit the crowd. We finished our at around 8:30 and started seeing a lot of families coming in. The motel is at a great location. Very quite but seems to be a safe area. La Quinta & Quality Inn are just right by each other. Many restaurants nearby and best of all, a grocery store (Ralph) nearby. Legoland is only a mile away. It is a great value to stay for a day or two.

My family stays at the RI - Carlsbad twice a year. We have family in the area and this hotel gives us the space to relax without costing a ridiculous amount of money.
The breakfast, location, and size of the rooms cannot be beat. Yes, it is a bit worn. Yes, it can get quite loud (both freeway noise and pool traffic). The bottom line is, if you make your reservations early in the year, you can get a 1 bedroom suite for around $159. This is a cheaper rate and higher value than you are going to get anything else in the area.
