Great getaway

My wife, son and I stayed at the Ramada for 1 night as we were flying from Syracuse the following day. I reserved directly through the hotel and Judy was very pleasant and accomodating over the phone. When we arrived at the hotel, we were promptly greeted and taken care of. Our room was very clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced. We had the hot buffet breakfast the next day which was a nice start to our morning. My wife and I are hoping to get away for a weekend of shopping and fun and will definitely stay at the Ramada again.

We stayed at the Syracuse Ramada Inn on January 29th 2008 and booked through Judy Herzig, the General Manager. We drove from Ottawa, Canada and were doing an overnight stay, then flying out to Orlando, Fl the next morning.
The rooms were very clean and well taken care of. The next morning we had a full complementary buffet breakfast and then took the hotel shuttle over to the airport.
Upon our return, the Ramada Inn was waiting for us at the Airport! Unfortunately, they only had a Minivan to pick up the eight of us. Did that matter....NO! The Ramada paid for a taxi for the rest of our group and brought us back together to the Inn where our cars were waiting.
Lets see...good night sleep for my family…Check
Included breakfast the next morning...Check
Included parking my vehicle for the 10 days...Check
Included shuttle to the airport and pick up when we returned...Check
Fantastic service with a smile that can't be found in many places...Triple check.
Will we stay at the Ramada Inn Syracuse again...absolutely!
Thanks again Judy.

We spent one night there in late March 2008 as a stopping place en route from Massachusetts to Ohio on the NY Thruway, arriving at about 7 PM and leaving the next morning at 8 AM. So we didn't get to take advantage of any of the things the hotel offered except room and board.
Getting on and off the Thruway went smoothly with the directions available online.
It was a Sunday and so it was a quiet time. We hardly saw any other guests in the evening.
Check-in was easy and friendly.
The room was spotless, a good size and very comfortable. We were on the second floor so the elevator was a help.
We had a very light dinner in the lounge and the food was really good. We had a complimentary hot buffet-style breakfast the following morning which was also good.
One of the best things was the $79 (plus tax) price. I used my AAA card for this rate. I couldn't believe we were getting all this for a lot less than what most of the other hotels in the Syracuse area off the Thruway were charging.

A girlfriend and I just went to Syracuse for some 'Retail Therapy" and stayed at this Ramada. The rooms were very clean, the staff was very pleasant and the food was good. Breakfast is included with the room for a reasonable price of $89 a night. The only thing that went wrong was our visit to the huttub and pool area. After returning home I had a rash the size of a baseball on my shoulder area-very hot and sore with lumps under the skin. After a visit to emerg. the doctor told me it was a Baterial Infection characteristic of a Hottub contamination and asked had I been in a hottub in the last few days? The hottub and pool have only been open since January and I can only assume the staff are not yet educated on the proper cleaning and chemicals needed to keep this public area usable. So just beware and have a complete soap and water shower when you return to your room-my roommate did and only had small spots-I am on antibiotics for a 10 day period.
The hotel is great but if we ever book there again we will not be using the hottub.

Last stayed here for New Years 2008. The Hotel has an annual New Year's Eve Package that is quite reasonable (we've done it several years now). The New Year's Package includes Accommodation, Full Breakfast Buffet and "The Party".
Check In is always fast & friendly (they tend to remember us from year's past). Accommodations are clean and reliable, the hotel appears to be trying recently to make some changes, there have been some definite upgrades and rennovations done recently (curved shower rods, new paint & wallpaper, internet terminal, indoor pool). We usually stay in a non-smoking room with 2 Queen Beds. Sometimes we have had rooms that are adjoining with friends, and have a small fridge and microwave (a nice convenience). Our experience has been that the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable.
The Hotel makes add-on nights to the New Year's Eve Package available for a very reasonable rate (and they include a coupon for a regular breakfast). As we like to come to Syracuse for a couple of days (cross border shopping). We appreciate the add-on.
The Hotel Staff have always been friendly and helpful. They have given us directions and sometimes even more help in finding our way to local attractions, restaurants and the Carousel Mall -- calling ahead for us to make inquiries, making reservations, booking transportation etc.
The New Year's Package includes Accommodation, a Full Breakfast Buffet, and "The Party". The Party gets underway with a Cocktail Hour that includes unlimited cocktails, welcome champagne (a glass before dinner) and butlered hot appetizers. There is a wonderful dinner buffet (salads, cold cuts, various hot dishes - pasta, chicken, potatoes, veggies and a chef carved roast beef), and an open bar from dinner time onwards (wine is available by the glass). The usual accompaniments are at the table (rolls & butter, tea & coffee). An array of desserts are decadent!
The main dining room (conference hall) is decorated to reflect the theme (for 2008 it was Hawaiian). The hotel goes to a lot a trouble to make sure the decorations give the room a festive feel. Each table has a themed centrepiece, and party favours are at each placesetting (including all those familiar New Year's items).
The last two years, the Entertainment has included a dance band in the the main dining room and a wonderful easy listening-folk-blues performer in the bar lounge area.
The music begins gradually, so as not to interupt dinner. After the buffet table is cleared away, things get going full tilt!
At midnight, everyone is poured a celebratory glass of champagne and there is the usual noise making and merriment! The party however continues on until closing time (for those who are still able to keep going).
Around midnight, the staff also sets up a buffet table that has an assortment of items for those wanting to nibble (although, I don't know how, after all the food that was served at dinner). This buffet usually has a tea & coffee bar, pop, juices, assorted cheeses, and other finger items.
The hotel offers late check out on New Years Day. But before leaving there is a Full Breakfast Buffet served in the more intimate restaurant off the lobby. Bottomless cups of tea and coffee are appreciated after a night of partying. The buffet has cold items (fruit, juice, cereals) and hot items (eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, french toast, etc).
We enjoy the Ramada's New Year's Package because it gives us a chance to "get-away" after the Christmas Holiday. And it really is such a great value. For 2008, the New Year's Package was $ 300 US a couple. It is also an added bonus that because of the US Drinking Laws (21+) this type of event is more of an adult event than say a similar one in Canada (18+). We've started to notice now, that a lot of the same people come back year after year and that the average age group is probably 35 to 50 (although there are some couples in their 20s and a few in their retirement years).
On January 1, 2008 the Hotel opened their new indoor pool, spa and exercise area (believe this has replaced the outdoor pool area -- makes more sense based on Syracuse's climate). Although we didn't use either the pool or the spa, we did a tour thru the new facility and it all looked great! The exercise room was small, but the equipment was all new and top-notch! The change area and bathrooms were nice.

Another feature of this hotel is their Park & Ride program. Although we haven't done it... we have friends who use this Ramada Inn as a launching off point for their annual vacations. They enjoy the fact that the Ramada Inn offers a reliable airport shuttle service (no matter what time day or night) and they feel comfortable knowing that the first night and the last night of their holiday is in a place they know and trust.
