I was one of 40 people that was the first group of genealogists to visit the International Tracing Service at Bad Arolsen. The hotel was conveniently located a few minutes walk from ITS.
When I walked into my hotel room I realised it faced the internal garden. This garden has the potential to be a delightful space; unfortunately this potential has not been realised and the result is rather a depressing outlook.
The ladies at Reception were kind enough to allow me to change rooms and gave me a room that faced out, overlooking a grassed area. Being a ground floor room meant that it had a small outdoor seating area with a table and 2 chairs. I only realised later that whilst some rooms have WiFi, this one did not. However, WiFi was available in the lobby and cafe.
The room had 2 single beds pushed together and was spotlessly clean and comfortable.
The only free English TV was CNN.
Breakfast was included and offered a large selection (including a delicious variety of different breads and rolls and jams).
There was one catered function in the hotel. The food was tasty and the price reasonable.
The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and I would certainly stay here again.
