We are the, "Biggs HOG Chapter" of North San Diego County, California. A “Well Respected”, group of Motorcycle Enthusiast.
We booked our stay at the Quality Inn at Mammoth Lakes, CA, from June 6 to 10, 2008.
I and 60 other people with me can't begin to tell you just how accommodating this hotel was. The staff did everything to make our stay the most comfortable and enjoyable ever.
I am the booking coordinator for my club and I booked 36 rooms. So when it comes to complaints, I would have heard them if there were any. Instead all I heard was high praise. Our Club couldn't believe how friendly, helpful and courteous the staff was. They went beyond HELPFUL!
The rooms were spacious, immaculate and I would believe pretty well insulated for sound. Attention to detail, everything was done right. The bathroom was large, well lit with a clean tiled floor and a very nice showerhead with plenty of hot water and pressure. There is large indoor spa area.
In the morning, there was and extensive Continental Breakfast with a very friendly hostess.
The Hotel has underground parking which was great for parking our precious motorcycles. They also provided us with a hose and clean rags to wash and wipe down our motorcycles.
If there was anything we needed, all we did was ask and it was immediately taken care of.
I am personally in debt to these folks for making me a hero with my club.
Special Thanks to Hotel Manager, Gary Whitford and all the staff that made our stay so memorable.
Now for the REAL DEAL:
As a large group of motorcycles, there are always some kinds of maintenance issues that come up with that many motorcycles.
We had such an issue when one of our riders discovered that her rear tire was unsafe to continue travel. At that point, she returned back to the hotel late Sunday afternoon to franticly try to get a new tire on her bike. Hotel Manger: Gary Whitford assisted her with this task. He loan his own personal vehicle to our member so that she could make a 3 ? hour drive, one way, to a Harley Davidson dealer to purchase a new tire. This was very much unexpected but very very much appreciated.
We ran into an additional problem being that nobody could install the tire on the motorcycle until the day following our return home. Meaning, we had to leave that member behind with another member to stay with her. Once again Gary Whitford stepped up to the plate and comp’ed both their rooms.
Our Group is family and Mr. Gary Whitford made it his business to take care of our family.
Thank so very much, Mr. Gary Whitford.
With this level of Customer Service, I would Highly Recommend you consider stay at this Hotel.
If you would care to discuss any of this, please email me and I would be all too happy to explain further.

The motel is noisy and my room facing the road was especially noisy. Since there is NO AC, you have to open the window to cool the room done and the noise from the street is awful. The temperature control has NO FAN setting, so you can't drown out the street noise with a fan (a floor fan was available, but broken). The kid running the show at the desk was unfriendly and lacked class. Noise from surrounding rooms passes through the walls like paper. On the plus side the beds were comfortable, the shower was adequate, the breakfast was better than most, parking was good occupying a lower garage that had an elevator that went directly to from the garage to all floors.

My recent stay at the Quality Inn was a partially controlled disaster. Much like the surrounding neighborhood, the premises left a lot to be desired. The hotel construction was mediocre, and there were no decorations to speak of. The lack of a/c may be a deal killer for some people, but my aunt and I survived. Had it been 5 degrees warmer, however, our stay would have been miserable!
I was attracted to this hotel because of its large indoor hot tub and the fact our stay included continental breakfast. The food was decent, but the hot tub's water had been turned up to a boiling temperature--so high that no one was able to use it for more than 1 or 2 minutes. Unfortunately, I was given the cold shoulder when I raised my concern with the front desk staff. In fact, I was treated rudely.
I followed up the following morning with the manager, and he was even ruder! Effectively, he told me that my concern was unjustified and that no one would spend any time trying to address it. I was flabbergasted. Also, I was embarrassed to have picked this hotel because the customer service was so lacking.
Sadly, I am not the only one who had problems with the staff--I heard a gentleman staying the night with his family get into argument with said manager the same morning I had my run-in with him. Based on this experience, Quality Inn has permanently lost my business, my aunt's business, and the gentleman's business. That's not a good business model!
Some of you may shrug off the horrible front desk staff experience, but don't say I didn't warn you! However, I would suggest you consider this hotel's other serious flaws--no a/c, poor construction, lack of decorations, high price--before you book. And keep in mind I visited during the summer, which may be very different than wintertime.

We have stayed at the Quality Inn on several business trips to Mammoth Lakes in the past couple of years. We choose the hotel more because it fits within our budget guidelines than for amenities.
That being said, the Quality Inn is more than a little bit on the dumpy side, which is not uncommon in ski resort areas. It has been beaten and trashed over the years by groups of partying snowboarders and it does show. We stayed in the off-season and it should be noted that the hotel has no air conditioning, a portable fan by the window provides some much needed air flow. There is a large indoor hot tub near the front door, which is an unfortunate location because it is such a high traffic spot. I almost went down to have a soak one night during our stay but ended up put off by the idea of waltzing through the entire lobby to get to the pool.
There is a well appointed continental breakfast upstairs every morning and wireless internet. Front desk management is a little dodgy depending on who is on duty, our impression was that upper management hadn't provided a whole lot of training to off-hours staff. The hotel runs on a skeleton staff much of the time, at least it did during the time of year when we stayed.
Overall - the Quality Inn is a budget friendly stay in a town with some very expensive accommodations. Would I stay here if I were traveling for pleasure? Probably not.

Great place and they gave us AAA discount plus others we didnt even ask for. Staff was outstanding, rooms were a great value.
The rooms lack A/C but then a lot of places in Mammoth do. Nights are generally cold at this elevation even in summer.
Great location close to the mountain ,shops and restaurants and you get a fridge ad microwave even in the standard rooms, decent continental breakfast and underground parking for free.
