Family of three (2 x adults, 1 12 y.o.) stayed here for a week early July. Booked direct with the hotel - it was less expensive that way. Found the Hotel after research primarily on Trip Advisor.
Booked a two bedroom suite one bathroom suite. Arrived late at night to be greeted by friendly staff and discovered upon entering the suite that we in fact had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite.
Facilities perfect for a self contained family holiday. Kitchen adequately equipped, full size fridge, oven, dishwasher.
Large bathrooms, heated floors, laundry facilities in cupboard in one of them.
Beds not like home but comfortable enough, internet access easy and conveniently located in main living area. Limited foxtel available, pay per view movies on offer.
Carparking underneath secure and plentiful.
Only negaitve was the hotel restaurant, to be fair did not dine in for breakfast. Did dine in for dinner once and whilst service was good, food was below average to the point that we refused to pay for one meal.
Overall good experience, and yes we would stay there again.

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment that we booked through wotif.com and were gobsmacked when we walked in. Lovely and spacious, nice and clean, a nice covered balcony to sit on.
It was nice and close to the heart of town, but this had its downside. We were woken up a few times during the night by yobbos walking back from their drunken night out (even though we were on the third floor, the noise was crystal clear). In particularly, we were spectators to a man getting bashed outside the apartments while his girlfriend screamed, and the subsequent ambulance/police dramas.
Having said that, I think this would be a downside of any accommodation in the area. It's not really something that Clifton Suites can control (although greater soundproofing may work).
I also have to agree with a previous poster about the sheets they have in the apartments - I felt like I was sleeping on paper! Loud crackling sounds every time you turned over, and I wasn't even able to work in a nice, soft, snuggly patch during the night.
Also, the breakfast buffet was a bit iffy. A bit of a wait for things that ran out, and there were no glasses and very little juice for quite a while. Also, we had to get someone's attention to get cutlery and the whole service seemed a bit confused. Also, the tables aren't spaced appropriately for a meal where people will be getting up and down all the time. Still, the food was OK.
Hmm. They're the only bad things that I can think of. Besides that our stay was quite nice - I'd definitely stay here if I had to spend a week or so in Canberra...just like living at home (except for the sheets :P).

This was my second stay here. The rooms are certainly big, quiet, modern, well appointed. Location is good if you are doing things in civic because you can walk there rather than relying on Canberra's awful taxi service.
The room would be much better if they didn't use cheap polyester sheets and bedding. I had trouble sleeping because they felt like plastic. Also, the lack of WiFi is annoying, but I think most hotels in canberra are behind the times on that point.
I will go back to this hotel because though it's not the best, the rest in canberra is on the whole...worse. If I had to stay here more for work mon-friday, I would just take my own sheets with me.

The rooms are a good size but the bedding as metioned by others is not of the highest quality. We had a first level room facing Mort Street. A little noisy so would suggest a higher room would be better.
Two major problems with this property are the shower over the bath, water tends to go everywhere, and the very high charge for broad band internet. $10 for 1 hour and unless you use the $10 in one session, you loss it!

Read some quite good reviews of this hotel, which is why I booked it. Wrong.
OK, first the good: it was handy to the CBD (brisk 5-min walk) , the rooms were spacious. That was about it. No - there was one comfortable armchair.
The check-in staff (a couple of 18yo olds behind the counter) certainly hadn't majored in service delivery. I fronted up to the desk. And waited... and waited...The girl paid no attention (whatever was on her screen was far more interesting). The young guy did eventually manage to front up to the desk, but then couldn't find my reservation. Claimed I'd arrived 'on the wrong night'. Nope, not me.
Eventually acknowledged the error was at their end, which may have been why I was given a 2-bedroom suite (I'd booked a single one) on the top level at the back. 'It doesn't come better than this', he said. If so, well, spare me the not as good.
I've seldom walked into anywhere that looked so downright unwelcoming and felt so cold & uncomfortable. I'm not talking temperature, which was fine. But whoever set it up/chose the fixtures & 'arranged' it presumably just picked stuff straight out of a catalog & had tradespeople put it up wherever was easiest.
Everything seemed based on looks ('this'll look 'trendy') or just functional. As in - OK, we'll need a bathroom towel rail - fine, that's up, check it off the list. But why on earth - in a large bathroom - put it way over on the far wall at maximum distance from bath or handbasin, & not handy to anything?
At night, I found there were no lamps at all, so it was impossible to read (unless you like full overhead glare - I don't) in the lounge. Presumably it's mainly targeted at people who don't care as long as they can watch sport on Foxtel. On a small square screen. The main bedroom had sidelights nicely placed - but emitting nothing but a dim 25W glow that is useful only to see outlines. Impossible to read by.
The walk- through wardrobe/passage from main bedroom to bathroom ended in a 2.5cm high lip to the bathroom floor - just the perfect height to make hard & forceful contact with one's bare toes on. The shower hot water took a FULL 5 minutes of running at full pelt before it warmed up (shades of water wastage). No coffee-plunger...
It 'doesn't come much better than this'? Well, yes, actually it does. One could start by having a good think about how to actually make people comfortable when they stay with you, as opposed to simply checking off items supplied with no apparent thought whatsover. 'Quality suites'? What kind of quality did they have in mind?
