Needs an Update

I stayed here this past weekend, and I was very disappointed with my stay. While this used to be a nice hotel, it's in need of an update. The beds are uncomfortable and the linens need to be replaced. The biggest problem is with the staff. After hours, it's very difficult to get any assistance. It took us a span of about ten minutes trying to call the front desk to get someone to answer. Even during normal hotel hours, the service was disappointing. We called for extra towels at around 9:30 a.m., and were told that housekeeping wasn't in yet so it would be a little bit before someone could get up there. When they finally came, they brought us a stack of bathmats instead of towels. The cleanliness of the hotel left something to be desired, too. There was a dirty room service tray with trash and leftover food that was left right by the elevators on our floor that sat there all day long (at least from 10 a.m. until after dinnertime). While the hotel is in a very convenient location, I would prefer to stay someplace else in the future. There are too many mid-priced hotels with excellent service out there that are a much better value than staying here.

We were in town for our son's graduation from FSU. We booked this hotel because it was marketed as a posh hotel. This was the dirtiest hotel we have ever stayed in, and the place is falling apart. The staff was rude, and I don't think we encountered a helpful and pleasant person once during our stay. We booked a king, non smoking room, and they tried to give us a queen handicap room. My daughter became ill and we had to leave a day in advance, well.....they wouldn't budge and we had to spend $259 for a night we weren't even there! The rooms are full of mold and I sneezed and coughed the whole time I was there. I'm not even that sensitive to allergens!
Disgusting! I will be contacting higher management.

We stayed here two nights recently when we went to Tallahassee for my son's graduation from FSU. I have stayed at a number of places in Tallahassee in the mid-price range. I think that this is a good choice. The room was clean and comfortable. Wireless Internet and newspaper every day at no charge. The location is great. The staff was friendly and helpful.

I stayed at this hotel last month and I found the place to be charming. The historic building alone is worth the visit.
The staff was very welcoming (with HUGE cookies at the front desk). My room was sptotless. I do think the bedspread had
been washed a time too many though. It was clean, but faded.
I had breakfast in the hotel dining room each day. I can tell you that I have never had better Eggs Benedict!
Great hotel, not new, but a classic!
