Disappointed by the Park Inn

Finding an affordable hotel in Copenhagen is a difficult task as for one reason or the other, there aren't that much hotels.
Eventually we settled on the Park Inn near the airport, which was convenient as my girlfriend would be arriving with another flight than I was arriving on.
The hotel could easily be reached by bus from the airport, so the transfer was no hassle. The lobby was a little outdated with a small check in desk, but friendly staff. One minor detail was that the reception desk perse needed my reservation number which I forgot. They couldn't look it up under my name. So I needed to use the internet computer in the lobby to access my e-mail for the number. Not so nice.
The room was a complete dissappointment. What a rundown place! It's interiour clearly was a marvel during the 80's, but now 20 years later it definitely needed a revamp. The room had horrible colorcombinations, with purple and blue being the main ones. The bed was to soft and worn out, they could use new matrasses.
The bathroom was also old and outdated. You needed to shower in the tub, but the shower was hanging to low, so I couldn't fit under it. Also a nice detail was that the water didn't flow out into the sewer, it came up from a little put on the bathroomfloor, flooding the bathroom and eventually a small part of the room.
Breakfast was good, with a good choice and plenty to eat, so no comments about that.
There is a direct bus from the airport to the city center. The busstop is just across the street and the journey takes about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic, so that is not much. In the direct neighbourhood of the hotel isn't anything except some other hotels, a Scandinavian Airlines office and a little further on the airport.
All in all, the hotel was expensive for the quality it offered, with rundown rooms and flooding bathrooms. I hope they revamp this place soon!

This is a fairly basic hotel, located next door to the metro link to the airport (about a 5 minute trip). It's not cheap for what it offers (but then no hotel in Copenhagen is), but was perfectly acceptable. Check in/out was very effecient and breakfast was very good.

This hotel had a number of pros and cons following my recent brief stay there:
PROs:
- it is very near Femoren metro station which is just 3 minutes or so from the airport metro station. Tickets from the airport at Kr19 (less than £2)
- reception was very efficient and friendly
- breakfast was fine - it was a buffet and had a fairly good range of things on offer
- the hotel was clean and not noisy
-TV in the rooms had several channels including two decent British ones and since the Scandinavians shun dubbing, lots of TV programmes on their channels too were in English and subtitled
CONs:
- the rooms are on the small side - it was OK for me as a single traveller on this trip, but I wouldn't want to spend long in that room (which had two beds shoved together) with anyone else
- the bathroom was very small - again, OK, just about, for one night but...
- the shower was not strong and the tap came off in my hand when I was trying to adjuct the termperature so I was left with a rusty tap in my hand and a cold shower (and it took 10 minutes to stop the water coming out. I cannot believe that the cleaners or technical staff can have been unaware of this problem.
- no airconditioning. Because it is December does not mean we all want to sit in rooms at 28 degrees C....
- the beds were very very soft
Overall this hotel was clean, convenient and friendly, but the size and poor maintenance in the rooms mean this is expensive for what it is.

Stayed here for four nights in August and was sceptical after reading the reviews on here, but all in all had a pretty pleasant stay. The hotel may be an airport hotel but thankfully it is not under the flight path of the airport. It is located about 10 mins away by taxi 20 minutes via the number 12 bus from Radhuspladsen. The extra plus point for the hotel will be the brand new metro line which will open September 28th 2007 there is a stop right outside the hotel and is one stop down from the airport,so great connections.
The hotel is situated also near the beach at Amager Strand so quite nice to get some peace and quiet by the beach.
The hotel itself is a little on the tired side (it used to be the Radisson SAS Globetrotter) the communal areas are a bit weird and kind of have this asylum look about of them with the rooms kind of looking like jail cells.
inside the rooms are adequate, although i would say a bit tired looking now. Great big windows that open which is handy as there is no air conditioning.
The bathroom is a bit on the small side with no shower and is designed a little badly.
Room benefits from Satellite TV with BBC World and BBC Prime, although the Danish, Sweedish and Norweigan channels show loads in English.
Adequate storage space and the bed was a little too soft. Great that there are two duvets on the bed, but not so great that the double we had booked was two twins pushed together!
Major bad points about the room was lack of in room safe or mini bar/fridge, especially as some other Park Inn's have there so there is no consitency here.
Breakfast was complimentary and adequate although not the best I've had. The hotel also benefits from a large gym, sauna and swimming pool which we used.
The hotel is a three star property and the rack rate is around 1225DKK or £125 per night which is a little steep, although for Copenhagen, most things are quite pricey anyway.
An average three star property
