Comfortable Brisbane base

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment with another couple. Nicely appointed, comfortable serviced accommodation. On quite a busy intersection in town, but no noise. Woolworths supermarket right next door. Approx 12 minutes walk into town, or take a bit longer and walk along the riverfront walkway. Nice restaurants within 10 minutes walk on the riverfront.
All in all a good Brisbane base. Watch out for their covered car park though - it is very tight! Cost A$15.00 per day.

Stayed for more than a week at the Mantra on business. The regular rooms are fairly ordinary but the one bedroom suites are an excellent choice. I had a large living room, a good sized bedroom, a full kitchen and a balcony with a river view. When you add in a large supermarket across the street (and an excellent wine store) you can really be comfortable at the Mantra. The location is quite good - ten minutes to the Queen Street Mall (really just a pedestrian only section of Queen Street) and ten minutes from the restaurants and cafes of Fortitude Valley. There's a City Cat stop (the river bus) not far so you could actually go by boat to the museum district. All in all I can't think of a better spot for Brisbane. The only drawback - and it's minor - is that the only restaurant service in the hotel comes from the steak house in the lobby. It's good steak, mind you, but I would have appreciated a more varied menu. That being said, there's a good cafe across the street for breakfast or lunch and many restaurants within 15 minutes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pacific International. The apartments are clean, seviced daily and comfortable. The position in Brisbane was close to the Town centre and restaurants. We ate in the nearby Venice restaurant which was excellent.
Unfortunately, we arrived just as the 4 year drought broke and it rained, and rained and rained. We experienced the first shower just as we were halfway across the bridge to catch a boat for a river cruise. Past the point of no return. We could probably have got less wet in the shower. However, the cruise boat provided us with towels and when we stood on the top deck (Titanic style) we soon dried.

My daughter and I stayed here during November 2006 for the Ashes Tour.
It was a very pleasant hotel, great air-con, well equipped kitchen, and helpful staff. Reception and housekeeping staff great, the housekeeper even showed me how to use the washing machine, which was such a bonus.
Our room was on 23rd floor, which commanded the most spectacular views accross the river.
The location of hotel very good, as there was a shopping mall accross the road if you needed to make a meal in your apartment. A ten minute walk would take you to the town centre. There is a good bus service in Brisbane, plus plenty of taxi's always available if you don't want to walk.
The restaurant in hotel was ok, good choice and reasonably priced. There were a couple of restaurants around the hotel but for more choice you would need to go into town centre.
There was a small pool in the hotel but we didn't use it.
The reception staff arranged a trip for my daughter and I to visit Steve Irwin's Zoo,which was about an hours drive away. The Mini Coach picked us up promtly and took us to the bus station where we caught a bigger coach on to the Zoo. This trip was extremely well worth the money as it was so memorable for us. We were shattered from so much walking around as it estimates to cover about 370 acres (includes the wetlands) when completely finished, but go and enjoy it as it is a wonderful Zoo, the best Zoo we have ever visited. The interaction with some tamer animals, is amazing.
I would return to this hotel again as it was excellent value for money, with a great location.
