stayed in Jul 2008
We recently stayed at the Chase while in town for a family event July 2-5, 2008. We booked through Travelocity and got a great rate of only $156/night (plus $14/night parking) for a 1 bedroom suite, which was HUGE. Did I say HUGE? It was just me and my husband, but could easily have fit a couple extra people in there. Our suite was gorgeous, newly remodeled, and actually appeared as though we might have been the first guests to stay there (though this was not the case). Granite countertops, ceramic tile bathroom, etc, excellent cleaning service. We asked for a quiet room and ended up on the 7th floor with no noise problems. The hotel was newly renovated and absolutely amazing, we have stayed in lot of nice places and this is definitely up at the top of the list.
The lobby, restraunts, and pool area were gorgeous, we ate several times at the poolside restraunt with really excellent food, I thought reasonably priced considering usual hotel restraunt pricing. We didn't have time to use the newly remodeled fitness center but checked it out and it too was huge and appeared state of the art.
Of course location was great right across the street from Forest Park. We enjoyed having family over one night to use the 5 screen movie theater conveniently in hotel lobby.
My only complaints would be the parking garage, which was under major construction at the time, and keep in mind extra mandatory parking fee. We did not use the valet that some guests on this site evidently had problems with. But, it will probably be nice once finished. Also, would have been nice to have a jacuzzi to relax in at the end of the day somewhere in the hotel. Other than that, a great stay and would come back again!!

Our stay here was a mixed bag.
SERVICE: We got caught in traffic and called the hotel to confirm our late arrival. They could not find our reservation and proceeded to transfer us around from one party to the next for the next hour. We had to call Orbitz and get them to fix the problem.
When we arrived around midnight with our 9 month old sleeping daughter in our arms, the music from the band in the lobby cafe was so loud that we couldn't hear each other talk. The desk clerk looked at us and then completely ignored our presence. He talked on the phone for 5-10 minutes, then helped another gentlemen soon after he walked up to the counter.
The next morning we had to wait to get a map from the concierge for 20 minutes and then had to wait another 45 minutes to get our car from the valet. The lobby was full of waiting and frustrated guests. The manager defensively said they were understaffed and he was trying to "save the day".
Our daughter was very tolerant through all this but c'mon! She was ready to "go home" by the time we got our car. We decided to park our own car upon returning only to find that the garage was under construction and you had to walk through several garage tiers of construction (no elevator) to get to the hotel entrance. When we tried to park again that night, the garage was full!
I will say that the valet service was much better the next morning but that was only because our bellhop facilitated the process. For some reason, they seemed to have too many "parked" cars in the oval drive where you arrive/depart which made it nearly impossible to get in and out. Poorly managed.
The service the rest of the time was what you would expect.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
The room was nice (a suite), view of the roof and garage though. The furniture, sitting area, etc. was modern, nice. The bathroom was okay but had an extremely small (narrow) shower stall (no tub, impt when traveling with babies).
The location is great, which is why I picked it in the first place. I lived just a few blocks from the hotel when I was in grad school. It's within walking distance to the best of St. Louis in my opinion - Forest Park, the zoo, the science center, the art museum, the history museum, the Muny, restaurants, shopping, etc.
It was also nice that everything is right there in the hotel if you want it - even a movie theater!
FOOD:
The food was fine. Somewhat limited menus but enough to find something. No complaints. We got both room service and food from the hotel Bistros/Cafes.

This hotel is first class from start to finish.
CHECK IN--
The staff here were great. They were professional, quick and happy to give directions, recommendations and just all around a full service counter.
THE ROOMS--
The rooms a very spacious. I stayed in room 321 and although it's not the best view (becaue you can catch a bit of the roof view) you still get enough city. This room is almost all windows. The bathrooms were spotless.
CLUB ZODIAC--
We had our meetings i the Zodiac room. This place really had a great view of the city. The staff was phenomenal, I can't stress that enought. There were over 200 people in our group having breakfast and lunch and never was my glass every empty of a beverage. Super great.
FOOD--
DON'T EAT THERE!!! The food is moderately edible. On the 3 day, I don't remember what the menu was, but that night, we have 1/3 of our group came down with some sort of stomache illness. Don't know if it was the flu or food poisoning!!!! It was awful.

I loved this hotel. The minute we pulled up the valet was there to help you out of your car and the bellman was there to take your bags. The lobby is beautiful. Although, the price on Expedia was a lot lower than what was quoted at the counter ( they did not match the online price-that's ok). Our room had a separate sitting room and was beyond spacious. Inside the room were 2 large t.v.'s but they had very limited channels. Also, it did get a little noisy as there is a club on the top floor of the hotel and a club/bar on the main floor. I wasn't quite sure which one the music was coming from but it was loud. Being that I'm a party person it didn't bother me as I was getting ready to go out to a club myself. The bed was very comfortable and room service was very fast. I did not get to enjoy the movie theater or any of the restaurants located inside the hotel but the Bistro had a wonderful looking breakfast buffet.
I definitely plan on staying here again when I return to the 'Lou'.
Next time, I will take advantage of the restaurants and the theater.

Our room was large, a suite with a sitting room and a bedroom. Had a window in each room, yet it was quite dark - faced the pool area. Nicely decorated, nothing too imaginative or impressive, but it was fine. The bathroom was nothing to write home about - very average.
Our biggest gripe was a room service breakfast. It arrived over an hour and a half late. We called a number of times to check on it and each time we were told it was on its way. When it arrived, the order was all wrong and what was there was only OK. We called to speak with a manager and were told a manager would call us back. No one ever did. No one apologized for the poor service. It just seemed as if no one really cared. Not the level of service you expect from this kind of hotel.
