Went to the club with friends on a Saturday night- didn't stay at the hotel. The lines to get in are long whether seeking general admission or the VIP area. To get in the VIP area (Eden Rooftop) expect to pay a minimum of $350 for a bottle with a $75 tip. Hotel guests get complimentary passes to the VIP room. The prices aren't that bad for what you pay for, but it helps to know ahead of time. The waitresses are all gorgeous and the staff extremely helpful. Music is decent.
You can sign up online at www.envysandiego.com for guest list consideration and half off cover charge, but this only applies to Thursday and Friday nights.

First of all, I think someone needs to take all the employees to hospitality school. RUDE RUDE RUDE.
This hotel is not worth staying at...Try the Keating next door or Hotel Solamar.
The Ivy is nothing but a wanna be Standard. and yes all the employees have their nose stuck in the air.

Was in town for work on a tuesday and wednesday night. Stayed at the Gaslamp's Ivy hotel. Loved Neil and Jared's service at the bar. Great attitude from everyone in the place. Has a laid back hip vibe and supposedly gets quite bumping on the weekend. The hotel is filled with beautiful people and has a wonderful rooftop pool. Next time i'm in san diego i'll definitely be back. Booking direct gets you a discount supposedly. The fixtures of the room were very high end and the hardwood floor and marble of the bathroom was choice.

Excellent place to stay if you're looking for a Fraternity House experience. The staff is great, service is excellent, but you'd better be a party animal if you are to enjoy this place. Don't look to get get any peace and quiet or sleep for that matter. Rooms are quite hip (although the choice of Sony technology is questionable), well appointed with Macallen 12 year old stocked in the room. Bring your own hook to hang a bath towel on as "hip" does not include bath towel hooks and "hip" does not include a closet of any reasonable size. Bed is very comfortable and lighting is harsh, modern Euro-trash. Well located in the middle of all the action.

We stayed at the Ivy and loved it. The property is beautiful and the service was even better.
We spent the entire day at the pool. It wasn't crowded on Thursday afternoon but I can imagine what it would be like on a busy weekend. The pool area is extremely small and seating is limited. There are daybeds, a few lounge chairs and cabanas only. We ate lunch at the pool and that was really good. I had their specialty sandwich - lobster club. It was awesome. The sandwiches come with sweet potato fries.
The room was beautiful! Very modern contemporary and chic. The bed is really comfortable and there is an "open" tub/shower. If you are traveling with someone your not intimate with please remember that the shower is fully exposed for all to see you (in the room).
The nightlife was awesome. We went to the front desk and recieved a wristband to access all of the clubs. As a guest of the hotel you get full access,no waiting in line and no cover to go to any of the clubs. They were all fun. The best one is downstairs. The line to the club there is wrapped around the building.
The next day we checked out and were sad to go.
*If you don't like loud music or the club scene I wouldn't reccomend staying here on the weekend.
