It is hard to review this Hotel without sounding like I am a PR man for the management there but my partner and I have just returned from a 3 night stay and I cannot fault Hotel Montalembert. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The room was perfect, especially the bed, which I would gladly have taken home, if I could have fit it into my suitcase. The food was excellent. We loved the building itself, particularly the lift. It was the ideal base for visits to the The Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, Notre Dame and of course The Eiffel Tower - all of which were within walking distance [the first 2 were within spitting distance]. We cannot wait to go back to Paris and when we do, we will definitely be returning to this hotel.

We had been recommended this hotel by friends who stayed there few years ago.
The Montalembert is a true Boutique in the middle of the chic and very parisian Saint Germain des Pr?s. You are only few minutes walk from the Louvre, the Orsay Museum, galleries and nice boutiques and famous caf?s like the Flore.
It is a very elegant modern hotel but not sophisticated. Staff is very friendly and treated us like real VIPs.
The rooms are pretty small but it makes it even more romantic...
The beds are very comfortable and linen very soft.
The fireplace next to the bar must make it very intimate in the cold season.
We really felt like being in someone private home.
The Montalembert is for a true parisian experience.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for over a week on our first trip to Paris. Overall, the experience was wonderful. First off, being strangers in the city, with its reputation for unfriendly Parisians, we were slightly intimidated. However, we found all the of the staff at Hotel Montalembert were delightful. They arranged dinner for us every night we didn't already have plans (including Easter Sunday), acquired taxis, and gave helpful guidance whenever it was necessary. They never once gave us any serious grief over our poorly spoken French. :)
The hotel itself is clean and well looked after. The amenities are very nice and with the exception of very thin walls that allowed us to hear every word of some unfortunate neighbors partying, we found very little to complain about regarding the accommodations. The bathroom was roomy considering the size of the room, and while there was little empty floorspace to move around, the closet space was more than sufficient.
The only downside we found was the inconvenient and very expensive Internet access, however we've found this to be true almost everywhere in Europe. Access was wireless, but you must physically obtain a voucher from the front desk (they will deliver it to your room). The prices were very steep!
The location is convenient and just minutes from the Musee D'Orsay and the Louvre. Beware of the cafes surrounding this area... they are tourist traps. However, the hotel staff were able to guide us to restaurants filled with locals.
We would definitely stay here again!

Chic Hotel - Manager of Excellence

We chose the Hotel Montalembert because we needed a good Hotel in a central location with easy transportation access as one member of our party has reduced mobility. This was an important but short weekend family celebration trip. We were happy we chose the Hotel MOntalembert which we learned about from our Swiss cousins who stayed there many times, twenty years ago and loved it. We were glad we did. It was still chic. in fact upgraded and modernized and as has been repeatedly mentioned on this website, the location is ideal , especially if one needs to minimize walking the long corridors and steps of the Metro. The location of the Montalembert is as good as it gets in terms of location, providing easy walking to many amenities and several busses. And , as in all hotels, taxis can be called. In terms of service, our stay was especially enhanced by the charming, professional Manager, Ms. Alexandra, with whom, unfortunately, we only communicated long distance. She was on a business trip out of the country during our stay. Ms. Alexandra was the epitome of professionalism – responsive, intelligent, genuinely caring –she was not looking for anything in return other than that we enjoy our stay. She made the difference – critically giving us peace of mind before our departure as we had somewhat complicated special needs for this trip. Ms. Alexandra was good to her word.
We had two deluxe rooms and were glad we did. The larger deluxe size rooms were about equivalent to our North American standards for a small room which met our needs and in addition were beautifully appointed. We especially appreciated the serene rooftop views from our fifth floor.
In terms of other staff, we also especially liked the morning restaurant staff who provided “truly quality service” in the true sense of the wordswhich for means self effacing,”keeping it professional”, attentive, and pleasant. We are not charmed by insincere or pompous hotel staff who take themselves too seriously. One waitress was especially pleasant and forthcoming who didn’t seem to be doing so for the extra tip or to be one who would make “la gueule” ( discontented face) if she didn’t get one. So she did.
We had a terrific family celebration in Paris, enhanced by the gift of excellence from Ms. Alexandra to whom, again, we give our thanks.
Stylish cosy boutique hotel with a warm ambience, great choice!

Loved the decor....so cool! Great furniture and lighting and lovely bar area with a fireplace. About the staff, what else to say that all of them are great and very efficient. During all the stay, they do their best to offer the best hotel experience. They're very friendly and smily and this is very appreciable.
Our room was clean and stylish, perhaps a little on the snug side with no drawers for storage but we were offered a bigger room if we wanted to change the next day but once we got settled we didn't want to move! Cool touches in the room included an i-pod dock, espresso machine, LCD TV's in the bedroom and a specially so smooth bathrobe! Sometimes could hear other people in their rooms but that didn't cause too much trouble.
Also within walking distance is some of the best shopping in Paris. Countless boutiques for shoes, sportswear, bags, jewellery, paper, etc are all over the place. Le Bon Marche, a beautiful department store, is about a 15 minute walk. They have a unique cosmetic and accessories department. I have never seen so many beautiful scarves. There is also a La Maison du Chocolat near Le Bon Marche where I bought truffles and other chocolates that were superb. The hotel "arrival gift" was a box of cookies called 'macarons' from Laduree and they were unbelievable. I would never have known about them if I hadn't stayed at the Montalembert. There is a Laduree in St Germain des Pres and one on the Champs. I was also within walking distance of the Louvre, Place de la Concorde, The Musee D'Orsay and the L'Orangerie. With the Metro right there, you can get anywhere quite quickly.
Overall a great place to stay in a nice quiet street!
