We stayed in the chalet in the back & we really loved it. It felt like we were renting our our own little apt. The owners are great. Upon arriving at 10pm, Ralph asked us if we'd had dinner & that he could slap a steak on the grill for us. We were grateful! Also our luggage had been lost, and the next night it was delivered to the gondola station & Ralph went to retrieve them for us. The breakfast was also delicious. The room itself is very simple, clean & modern with heat. No tv, radio, or clock. One other tip, while we were there, we noticed that the weather is clearest in the early morning, so get an early start even though you're tired. It's worth it for the amazing mountain views! Would definitely book the chalet again if we ever returned.

The rooms at Hotel Blumental are basic, and rather dark - not enough lighting. The bathroom/tub is pretty tiny. The south-facing rooms don't have much of a view, because the Hotel Regina is right in front of it, and blocking most of the view. But the food at the restaurant is incredible (we took the half-board option, so had the set menu). So you may be better off staying at the Regina and coming to eat here. But otherwise a clean, basic hotel. Good ambiance in the lounge/restaurant.

We spent four wonderful days at the Blumental December 12-17. Ralph and Heidi are wonderful hosts. Many of the hotels in Murren were still closed for the off-season, but Blumental was open for bed and breakfast. The restaurant was still closed when we started our stay but opened for the season from Saturday night. Our room was comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed sleeping under those wonderful Swiss Duvets. The view was slightly impeded by the hotels accross the street but we still had a clear view of the Monch and Jungfrau from our balcony.
It had snowed for three days prior to our arrival but all four days that we were there were cloudless though cold. We went up the Schilthorn for a late lunch the day we arrived. On day two we traveled by train through Lauterbrunnen, Wengen and Kleine Scheidigg to the Top of Europe station at the Jungfraujoch. Although it was bitterly cold out on the observation area at the Jungfraujoch (-20C), we thoroughly enjoyed the day, meeting many interesting tourists from many parts of the world. We are not skiers but we did bobsled down to Gimmelwald and on the slopes above Murren on the morning of day 3, and then traveled by train to Grindelwald for a late lunch. We had originally made our hotel reservations in Grindelwald and were so glad that we changed them to Murren. We returned to Murren to eat dinner at the Restaurant at the Blumental. The lamb was divine!
On day 4, we bobsledded in the morning and then went to Wengen for lunch and then, after a cable-car ride, had coffee and strudel at the restaurant atop Mannlichen.
Day five we left and rode the train to Geneva where had lunch and walked along the waterfront. Late afternoon we took the train back to Zurich for a night at the Airport Hilton before returning to the States.
Our Swisspasses were great value as was the accomodation at Blumental. We highly recommend the Blumental and will probably stay there again next year.

This is a typical average-class Swiss hotel. What the previous reviews don't mention is that there is night club underneath the hotel which is open until 2am, after which the patrons noisily congregate on the street directly below the hotel. Ask for a room in the chalet or behind the hotel if you don't want loud noise. The interior needs updating, and the breakfast buffet was pretty tired looking. We checked out early, and the reception staff were understanding which they did not need to be.
