If this hotel would advertise itself as a 3 star hotel than I would be ok with it. However, I had certain expectations since it claims it is a 4 star hotel, expectations that weren't met.
I was in Brussels on business trip. Came very tired. It is a 10 minute walk from Gare Midi through a pretty shady area. The receptionist was talking on a phone to her friend while I waited for 10 minuted to be checked in.
Rooms vere ok, but quite plane and boring looking. The bethroos was quite nice wit a large tub. Internet was very expensive. 18euros for a day. Breakfast was included and very tasty.
Here ar ethe little things I would expect from 4 star hotel. I forgot a toothpaste so I called the front desk if they had some - they didn't. I asked if I could have an iron and an ironing board in the morning; they said yes but I have to pck it up from the front desk in the morning!!! What kind of service is that?
I am going to Brussels next week again and I will be staying in a different hotel.

Enjoyable stay at Floris Avenue

Floris is a pretty good deal. It’s strength is location, right smack in between the Midi/Zuid train station and the Grand Place. It took us exactly 7 minutes to walk from the hotel to the train station, so it is perfect for side trips to Brugge, Amsterdam, Paris, or London. The breakfast is amazing, and free. Internet is 5 euro for 30 minutes and is available wirelessly for that price. The rooms are big, modern, and clean. The safe works perfectly.
We had an encounter with a very rude clerk at the front desk. He demanded that I sign a piece of paper with none of the information filled in the blank spaces (like price). I asked him if I could see the other documents in the bunch that were clipped to it. He angrily and loudly refused! So, I just signed it and figured I could figure out the nuances of Belgian litigation at a later date, ha ha.
I recommend the Floris. It is more expensive than others in the vicinity, but the breakfast and location make up for it. The neighborhood is marginal, but not unsafe.

This hotel is within a 10 minutes walk from Brusselszuid/Gare du Midi train station and an additional 10 minute walk to Grand Place. The neighbor is OK, but not ideal as restaurants were questionable. We walked to the surrounding areas of Grand Place for all our meals.
The rooms were large compared to european standards, furnished with IKEA like furniture, bedding clean and towels in overall good condition. The beds were not the most comfortable as the mattresses were quite thin and our king size bed was actually 2 twins pushed together. The TV had only one english channel (BBC) but sometimes you could catch an american sitcom or movie in subtitles. Minibar fully stocked but expensive and breakfast (inckuded in the rate)was more than adequate with a full english breakfast of eggs, bacon, saugage, breads, yogurt, cereal etc.
Our Experience:
The staff on the other hand are a bunch of "flim-flam" artist. Booked hotel on Venere.com for 85 euros per ngt. At c/o we informed the front desk staff of our intention to "potentially" come back for another ngt. We were told there were plenty of rooms and no need to book and then be stock with a no-show charge if we decided not to c/i. So 2 days later called back to book for 1 ngt and told there were sold out. However, we were able to book at Booking.com for twice what we paid at 185 euros per ngt. When I confronted the girl I had spoken to on the phone at c/i she claimed not to understand what I was talking about. The next day we tried to c/o and was told our credit card declined but upon further questions realized that the credit card machine had "cancelled" the transaction. American Express and Visa confirmed that there was nothing wrong with our cards and that the problem was with the hotel. Needless to say, they wouldn't allow us to leave without paying cash even though it wasn't our fault. The front desk clerk had no idea about anything, quite incompetent.
Overall, very decent hotel if paying less than 100 euros per ngt, but not worth a penny more! There are plenty of other hotels to choose from in that area.

Nice, clean room. Cheap (paid 85 Euro for 2 persons + baby) for being a 4 star hotel in Brussels. Minus for not having a babychair.
