For £100 p/room we at least expected a room thats up to standard... We arrived at the hotel at 22:30. The floor tiles in the bathroom wasn't done and there was rat poison in the corner of the bathroom! As we went to bed, we found that the base of the bed was non existing.. There was a frame, but only half the bed had planks on it. The top part of the base, was one big hole! The mattress sank away in the hole, making it impossible to sleep on the bed, even if you sleep with your head on the other side. By 23:00 we went and called one of the Vale Park Hotel's staff to sort out the bed-problem. The owners of the hotel both agreed that the bed was faulty, but didn't have another room, or bed as it was fully booked (due to a rugby match at the millennium stadium that same evening- that was also our reason for the visit- and we made sure we book accommodation way in advance) We suggested that we take out the broken base and put the mattress on the floor. That way we could have a roof over our head, but we were not prepared to pay the full £100 for the room. We were happy to pay half- as we didn't have a bed to sleep on. The owners refused and said we either have to pay the full £100, or leave the hotel! By that time it was 23:30- we had no where to go, all hotels was fully booked, we were 4hours drive form our home in London, and we didn't have a bed to sleep on! The owners were incredibly rude, didn't have any hospitality, wasn't prepared to compromise- even after they agreed their room wasn't up to standard! We were so upset about the whole situation, that we decided to leave and go and see if we could find somewhere to sleep in the middle of the night! I wouldn't recommend anyone to visit the Vale Park Hotel. There is not welcome atmosphere, the hotel is not up to standard, and the people are rude, unfair, and puts you out in the middle of the night! Terrible!!!!

Booked via latrooms, manged to get a room for 3 adult fo £69 inc. cont. breakfast.
this is not a flashy hotel, the rooms are very clean and well prepared, plenty of fresh clean towels, all the little bottles of toiletries, bottles of water, coffe and tea etc.
i regulaly stay in much more expensive hotels (work) but the Vale is very good value. Brekfast is adequate and the owner will drive you to the station(nice touch) taxi back £5.40.
it is good value in above average hotel (for the price) then stay here.
