My husband and I just came back from Chiang Mai whereby we stayed at Raming Lodge for three nights. We booked its Happiness package which comprised 2 night stay at deluxe room with daily buffet breakfast, return airport transfer, a very tasty and full dinner, and 1 1/2 hour spa for two. We extended our stay for one night and the bill came to up THB6,600 which we thought was very good value for money.
Room - Spacious, comfy, clean and decorated Lanna style. We also had a pretty good view facing the mountain. As we took the package, our minibar was replenished with three cans of soft drinks and 4 mineral bottles daily plus some snacks such as potato chips, peanuts and wafers - all free of charge...:). Bed was a bit too hard for our liking though.
Service - Very prompt and always with a smile. We had booked via email and the receptionist responded to our queries very promptly. We were also greeted at the airport and the driver recommended us a taxi driver who could take us around for THB1,000 per day. (too bad we had booked a driver for THB1,600). The spa service (on 6th floor) was also pretty good.
Location - Excellent. Five minute walking distance to both Sunday market and Night Market. We had an excellent dinner at a very nearby French restaurant called Chez Marco - a three course meal for less than THB350 per person. The duck mousse is highly recommended! Tuks tuks are easily available outside the hotel - a ride to Airport Plaza cost us THB80. As we walked back to the hotel after a visit to the Night Market, we saw a baby elephant on the road! There were girly bars near the hotel but that didn't bother us.
Food - Buffet breakfast selection was ok. There were cereals, french toast, few local meat dishes, fried rice, soup, fruits and omelette.
Its restaurant serves delicious food, esp its seafood tomyam. Price is reasonable too (about THB70 for a plate of fried rice)
All-in-all a very good experience

Very Thai feel to this hotel including the decor, the food and the spa. The room felt more like a mini apartment and they stock it up with fruit and snacks daily. Staff was friendly and it's a short walk to the night market and into the city walls. I've never slept on such a hard bed in a hotel but I guess that's part of the Thai experience as well (?) Food in the restaurant was decent and breakfast buffet was adequate. I like that they made me an omelette (Thai style) daily. If you want to get a good deal on elephant safari, just go across the street to the small tours shop. There's plent of nice little shops on the same street as well that sell artifacts, tribal silver, handmade items. I got the best deals with silk scarves and bags in one of the shops. We got the package deal on their website which included airport pickup, thai massage and some of the meals. I think it's a good deal.

Recently stayed at the Raming Lodge in Chiang Mai and was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was nicely situated - a quick walk to the night bazaar. The hotel room itself was very nice - terrific bathroom. Beds were a bit on the hard side though. All in all it was good value for the money.

We stayed here for three nights at the end of January. The rooms were pretty good – a large, comfortable bed, air con and a decent bathroom. This only cost us about ?24 per night so was pretty good value considering the quality of the room.
The location is fantastic – just outside the city (moat) walls it is easy to walk around the centre of Chiang Mai to see all the temples and other sights. It is also a short walk from the Night Bazaar which made it great for wandering out in the evenings. Laundry can be done nearby for pennies (don’t bother using the hotel service as it was cheaper and quicker outside).
The breakfast was fine – the omelettes were particularly good.

The Raming Lodge is an excellent choice if you are staying in Chiang Mai. I visited Chiang Main twice in 2007. I stayed at the Raming lodge both times for an extended period of time. My room was always clean and service was superior. The service staff were always available to assist in making my stay more comfortable and carefree.
