The main problem with this hotel is that the staff doesn't seem to like working there: My friend and I sat down at a large window table for breakfast in a large room (100 chairs) with 6 other people in the room, and were told to move because they were saving the table for a group (even though no one else came in by the time we finished). The staff then proceeded to stand around while we got our own coffee, and had to get up and get napkins from another table. When I pointed out their toaster wasn't working, they played with it for a few minutes, finally got it working, and then made me get up and walk back to get my toast. When we were locked out of our room by a malfunctioning door lock, the person who came to open it acted like she was doing us a favor by letting us into our room. Although they advertise help with booking train tickets, they couldn't help us because we were going west (they only do eastbound tickets). Our room was not cleaned one of the two days we stayed there.
The room itself was cold (no way to turn the heat on), the refrigerator did not work, and no water was furnished. The TV did offer the English channels HBO and Cinemax, and the room was very quiet (we got a room in the back, away from the street). The breakfast buffet is not good: Chinese only, no eggs and cold vegetable dishes, except for the baozi, which was the only well-prepared dish offered. It closed between 9 and 9:30 both days, though a loudly complaining Chinese guest did get them to stay open until 9:45. The staff did speak adequate English.
