My boyfriend booked a weekend away to Prague as a surprise so I had nothing to do with the booking at all.
The hotel was lovely the only downfall been the climb up the steep hill to get to it!. It is slightly out the way and we did walk around the area for about 45 mins before finding a sign pointing to it. (none of the locals knew where it was!)
But once you were there it was peaceful and cosy, We went to Prague in October and it was freezing but the heating was on in the rooms and it was really cosy!
The rooms are massive with tons of storage space way more than was needed just for a weekend!
Tea and coffee was not avaliable in the rooms but the receptionist was more than happy to make you one.
The receptionist was fantastic and recomended loads of places to visit with lots of top tips for beating the crowds.
The breakfast was not amazing but with so many little cafes in Prague it was not really needed.
All in all a fantastic little getaway

We bumped into the Hotel Popelka after an 800 mile Charity bike ride from Beverley to Prague. It was just off ourn road into Prague, the sign said 'Hotel', it was getting dark, we were tired, so we went. And we were very glad we did.
Popelka is a lovely, intimate and surprisingly quiet Hotel. It is next to NATO HQ for the Czech republic, and about 100 metres from one of the busiest approach routes to the centre, it is very much in the city. Yet our room looked out over the lower floor's roof onto a silent, peaceful wooded hillside, with no other buildings to be seen. Quite how this is managed I'm not sure...
It is a four star, so not the cheapest, but it costs less than at least one of the well known 'Budget' chains which have sprung up all over Prague as they have in the rest fo Europe.
The rooms are relatively big, plushly furnished and modern, in a slightly but not too minimalist fashion. The twin beds were very comfy. Helpful staff seemed able to deal with exhausted and slightly filthy cyvlists cluttering up their tateful lobby and demanding all kinds of attention; they were all friendly, and helpful, and spoke good English.
We didn't rate the restaurant, at which to be fair we only ate breakfast. The breakfast buffet was standard euro-branded fare, and not very good, to be honest.
I would use Popelka again if I return to Prague. It's a bit out on a limb, though it is in the City, but only 15 minutes by Tram to the old centre, so all in all a very good base.

We thoroughly enjoyed a mini break at the Popelka . It was exceptionally clean and comfortable and really does deserve it's four star rating . The bedrooms are spacious , meticiously clean and the beds were very , very comfortable . The range of breakfast fare was quite superb and very filling ! the staff were very friendly and helpful . Although a little way out of the city the number 19 and 39 tram offers frequent and speedy connections to all the main tourist attractions . Would we consider staying at this hotel again - most certainly YES !
