Our decision to book this hotel was based entirely on location - halfway between St Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge. We were not disappointed, though must add that the location was less desirable after dark. Our room was spacious, recently refurbished, comfortable and clean. The shutters on the window were closed when we arrived, the porter said this was because it was cold but being inquisitive we opened them to reveal a builders yard - this didn't worry us but if you would prefer a canal view it is probably best to request this at the booking stage. Although the hotel has a bar area we did not see anyone making use of it through out our stay and we were never tempted by it's stark appearance. Breakfast was served in a cheerful room overlooking a side canal. Breakfast was pretty much as we have come to expect in Italy - fresh fruit, fruit salad, pastries, breads, cakes, boiled eggs, an italian variation on scrambled egg, sausage and bacon - however the coffee was more awful than usual and, in a hotel with just 20 something rooms there is absolutely no excuse for this - a press button, self service style machine is never going to produce the best possible coffee - pure laziness. All of the staff, with the exception of one of the Receptionists, were charming, welcoming and helpful. The Receceptionist would be better suited to a non customer facing role but contact with him was limited and whilst he did nothing to enhance our stay, nor did we allow it to spoil it.
I would recoomend this hotel as a clean, comfortable and convenient base from which to explore the many delights of Venice. If you like to linger in your hotel, enjoying the ambience of the public areas - relaxing over a drink or a meal people watching and enjoying varied facilities then this is not the place for you - would we stay again? - not sure we generally prefer a full service hotel to a B+B.

Stayed in the Bella Venizia for 3 nights last week.
The hotel was charming, the staff excellent, efficient and friendly. The rooms although small were beautiful and very well maintained.
The breakfast was not great but ths seems to be a common problem in Italian hotels.
I would definately recommend this hotel for it location, style and overall good service.

My wife and I stayed at the wonderful Bella Venezia during our Honeymoon in late August. I expected it to be a good hotel, but it far succeeded my expectations. To start with, we began our Venice adventure by trying to find Calle dei Fabri. That proved to be a bit elusive but after asking twice we were show the correct way. I was a bit scared of how the hotel would look since we were getting close to the correct number and all the hotels did not look 4-stars. However, I was pleasantly surprised when we got to Bella Venezia. It is tastefully decorated from outside with drapery and renovated walls. In the lobby you could tell this was a good hotel. The staff, although a bit strange, were very courteous and spoke fluent English.
I had requested a room with canal view in my reservation through Venere.com; I was very happy to see they had gotten the message and I was granted my canal view room (best part of the hotel experience!) Bella Venezia seems to be next to canal very popular to the gondolas. We were woken up to gondoliers singing in the morning and beautiful Venice music.
The breakfast was very good, and they had everything you could ask for. They also had a computer with Internet (which I though had the steep price of 20 Euro for 24hrs until I learned the rates outside of the hotel!).
Our room was clean, modern and charming. My wife and I were a bit weary about the "Venice style"; but Bella Venezia the old style of Venice colors and drapery with modern drapery and fabrics.
My only complaint was that the A/C made a thumping noise at night; but we were so tired by the end of each night, the noise was drowned in the background.
We were so sad to leave Venice in our hotel. We would go back in a heartbeat, and would certainly recommend to anyone who is looking for a great hotel in a great location. Oh yea, Bella Venizia was about 10 min walking to Piazza San Marco!

The hotel was recently renovated and is very nice and is situated directly between the Rialto Bridge and San Marco, making it a great base location. If going to Venice, I would recommend staying at the hotel, however the city itself leaves much to be desired. Going to Venice is kind of like going to the dentist, as its necessary to do (at least once in your life), expensive and sometimes painful. I would highly recommend staying in a little town outside of Venice called Lido which is much prettier, calmer cheaper and more friendly yet close enough that it's a 5 minute water bus ride away from San Marco.
