I reserved a room at the hotel with their staff directly as I was going at a very busy time of the year and didn't want to have a problem. After numerous e-mails and a one day up-front deposit I managed to secure my room, or so I thought. When I arrived it turned out that they had over booked and were not able to give me a room. Hours of arguing finally got them to arrange a room for me at another hotel, but only for that one night and I had to pay it directly with Yihe. I also had to leave a deposit at the new hotel and check in again. I had just come from over 30 hours of travel so all of this was quite annoying
The next morning I had to return to the Yihe where I was now told my room wasn't going to be ready until 6pm. I was not even given my room number or allowed to check in so I had to come back at 6pm and get everything set up. Keep in mind that at every step you have to wait in line and the person you spoke to before isn't there anymore so it's all pretty time consuming.
Once I got the room it was fine as I had been upgraded to a suite by then (no small feat in China), but even then the room was lacking with a mediocre bathroom and TVs that didn't quite work (the suite had multiple TVs, but none were working properly). Would hate to see what a normal room is like.
Bottom line, this is not a cheap hotel and given its price you can do much better in Guangzhou. I can't find any reason to ever stay in this hotel.
