Fantastic hotel! Great staff, friendly and accommodating. Only downside was the 'funky' 3 colour lights aimed at the ceiling which generated a lot of heat and couldn't be turned off without turning all the power sockets off.

I always stay in this hotel when I'm in Zurich. The rooms are nice and the staff are super helpful. Although on one occasion I had a room with a less nice bathroom which was disappointing. The other rooms have all been excellent.

The hotel is in a quiet part of Zurich near the University. It is definitely not the place to go if you want to stumble a few feet to get your accomodation. (Of course, it only took us about 10 minutes to stumble home from watching UEFA '08 matches with everyone else.) The staff was great. They gave us a lot of suggestions and accomodated us when we had special requests. We stayed in two different rooms since we stayed there at both the beginning and end of our trip to Switzerland. They both were clean and comfortable. The first one seemed to be a little better constructed and maintained then the second. The second room seemed to have more "style", but if you looked closely there were some odd things like sloping floors, scratched furniture, troublesome shower, etc. On the whole, the combination of excellent guest service and reasonable price, more than balances out the negatives.

I've stayed at the Plattenhof 3 or 4 times now - it is a great hotel - the staff are friendly, its a good location for the old town, the rooms are stylish and comfortable and the food is good. There's a tram stop a few minutes walk away. Perfect hotel for business travellers.

This hotel is nicely decorated or I should say, was. Design is fine but furniture would need to be changed. We also found bugs in the room. The bathroom was a bit smelly (old shower curtains...), which ruins many things for me. Staff is just OK, not very warm (but local culture should be taken into account). One good thing: the breakfast was really nice with quality products. Last but not least, rooms on the street should be avoided because of the noise.
