My parents, my baby and I spent two nights in Chesa Valese, and loved it. It is absolutely charming, the ultimate in quaint and cozy. The rooms were very comfortable, with every convenience, and well soundproofed (good for crying babies). We got a crib, and the staff heated up bottles for us whenever we needed it. There is a good wellness center in the basement with two hot tubs that start up when you press the button, and a steam bath and sauna. They can arrange massages for you with a local masseuse. Breakfast was a schmorgassbord with efficient and friendly service. Transfers to and from the train station are included in the price. We were there off season and paid 200chf for a double and 105 chf for a single, both with balconies and deck chairs. My room had a pretty good view of the Matterhorn (rm 303). The staff are very efficient and friendly. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a quiet retreat.

Charming Chesa Valese

Having visited Zermatt before, we wanted to avoid the large hotels and stay in a small, quaint hotel with the flavor of the mountain village. With the Chesa Valese, that is exactly what we got and we couldn't have been more pleased.
Daniela Julen ("Julen" is a famous hotel name in Zermatt) is a lovely and gracious innkeeper who runs a charming and extremely comfortable inn. Our room was spacious and well appointed and our bath was beautiful and up-to-date. Our balcony, overlooking the village, gave us a beautiful view of the Matterhorn and we took scores of pictures from it as the sun rose on the majestic mountain.
The location is superb and we found Daniela's recommendations for restaurants to be just what we wanted. Breakfast was bountiful, with lots of choices, and the public areas of the hotel were very comfortable.
We had high hopes as the electric car picked us up at the bahnhof and Chesa Valese lived up to all of our expectations.
We look forward to another visit to Zermatt and another, longer stay at Chesa Valese.
