I always thought that this hotel was for ladies only. As it turns out it is only the Spa which is forbidden territory for men... Stayed for 2 nights in room 306... spacious room perfect and clean bathroom/shower. Internet access was free... as it should be. Hotel is located in a very nice neighbourhood, very close to Zurich City center (5 minutes by tram). Staff was very nice and helpfull...

My partner and I stayed at this charming boutique hotel in the very hip area of Seefeld, for 3 nights in a deluxe room. It was located on the 3rd floor directly above their women's only spa and sauna.
From the time we arrived, the staff were just lovely and gracious. The room itself no 304 was very spacious with a small chaise in the corner, a small flat screen tv (english cnn and german mtv) and a sparkling clean bathroom.
It overlooked a quite residential street which at one end held the beautiful river. Breakfast was very good compared to other Zurich hotels. It was plentiful with bread, pastries, cold meats, fruit salad, cereal and eggs made to order.
The bathroom was small but had excellent water pressure and good toiletries, even make up remover.
However, if you are a light to easily disturbed sleeper than this hotel might not be for you. We were located above the spa which thankfully closes at 10pm so at least the creakiness stopped about then. I can't imagine any guest not being bothered by the old floorboards, gorgeous as they were, they are just completely impractical for a hotel. My poor partner was quite anxious about the noise and found it hard to relax.
I can imagine other rooms being as loud if not more so, because even the most delicate stepper would make quite the din, and I believe that having a restful stay in a quiet room is at the top of most people's wish lists for accomdation.
It's a pity because we wouldn't go back for that reason alone. The hotel is wonderfully located with many good value restaurants and little bars, we paid 325 CHF which was quite good value for Zurich.

Wunderbarer Aufenthalt im Lady's
Guest name: Anonymous

My friend and I and just came back from vacation across Switzerland and spent 2 nights at the Ladys First in Zurich. It was a fabulous stay! Our double room was very large and the bathroom gorgeous and clean, it felt like a suite. I like the fact that everything is new, the decor is very modern but soothing as well. I read reviews about the squeaky floors, and it's true. But the building is over 100 years old and I'm sure they salvaged the old floors which are very pretty by the way, they didn't bother me much because I loved the feeling of walking on wood floors and we didn't experience people walking above us.
The location of the hotel is also perfect and is about 2 blocks from the lake and a 15 minute walk to the center of Zurich. As we were there for the swiss national holiday on Aug 1, we just found ourselves in the middle of all the festivities, fireworks on Lake Zurich, it was a bit noisy on the street that night but we did ok.
The staff was very courteous, helpful and accomodating. We had to use the spa and was charged an one-time extra fee of 20 fr because men are allowed in the hotel but not in the spa, therefore only the spa users pay. The buffet-style breakfast was great, there was a large variety of good breakfast foods whether you're vegetarian or not, everything served was fresh and well presented.
I'd definitely recommend this hotel and will go back there when I go to Zurich next time. Thanks ladies for making our stay in Zurich a memorable one.

We had a great 2-night stay in late June in a double deluxe room at Lady's First Design Hotel in Zurich. From the time of our on-line reservation, to our e-mail correspondences, and through all of our on-site interactions, we found the staff to be very polite, warm, and helpful. Our room on the third floor was very spacious with a 12-foot ceiling, beautiful woodwork (hardwood/parquet floor and painted wainscot), a very comfortable bed, and great big windows that look on to the street. The furnishings were of a modern design with clean lines that actually blended very well with the age of the building (about 100 years-old). The bathroom is large with stylish and modern furnishings. Unlike one of the previous reviewers, we did not have any problems with any noises from other guests, and the hotel was full when we were there. There is a lift, but why use it when there is that gorgeous staircase? Breakfast, included in our price, was plentiful and included fresh fruits as well as cold cuts, cheeses. eggs, yogurt, breads, etc.. There is a spa from where there is access to a terrace. While we were there, we noticed that there were male guests as well, although they migh not have access to the spa.
The hotel is also extremely well-located, about 2 blocks (less than 5 minutes walking) to lake Zurich and the right bank. Not having been to Zurich before, we were a little concerned that it might be a little too far from the center of town or other places of interest, but the hotel is literally 2 short blocks from the tram stop (lines # 2 and 4, less than 5 minutes), and we used the tram to go everywhere; for example, it took us about 10-15 minutes from our hotel door to Bahnhofstrasse with a combination of our walking to the tram stop and hopping on line # 2! And the Opera House is only 2 tram stops away!!! By the way, it was also very easy to get to and from the airport and the main train station/Zurich BH. Lastly, the hotel itself is located in the Seefeld neighborhood, which is residential and well-kept with plenty of small charming places to eat and shop. The unobstrusive and understated entrance of the hotel and reception area are very much in keeping with this residential feel.
In all, we would definitely recommend Lady's First Design Hotel to anyone who enjoys refined space with style and attentive services .
