Safe to say that our experience was in line with the glowing references elsewhere - the setting is sensational and the service is impeccable.
But there are two things worth adding that, for us, set Maroma apart. First, there is a sincerity about the place - we never felt that anybody was working at being pleasant and friendly. It felt very genuine.
Second, as a disabled traveller, from the moment we first contacted the resort, until the moment we left, they couldn't have done more. Moreover, they did it discreetly and spontaneously. I've never felt as relaxed.
Don't hesitate!

In a class by itself. The only thing that's better than beauty of the location and the charm, is the personalized service. My wife and I spent four memorable nights enjoying great food, great beach in a very refined atmosphere. We truly recommend it!!!
PS: try the Maroma Margarita!

We booked the Sian Nah suite package with the 20% spa discount staying for four nights. We drove ourselves to the resort as we hired a car for the previous part of our trip to Playa Del Carmen and Chichzen Itza. However, we could have returned the vehicle as we had no desire to leave the resort during our stay.
Upon our arrival we were greeted by name, handed a Maroma signature margarita, given a tour of the resort and shown to our beautiful ground floor suite with a fantastic ocean view. IMO the layout was beautiful, comfortable and the bathroom completely private if you forgot and left the curtains open. Due to having a room almost directly on the beach, some might find privacy a concern. But to be honest we had no problems with this as it was really not that easy to see into the living area unless you were very close to the window inside and out. And quite difficult to see into the bedroom. Between the living area and the bedroom are two large doors you could close for extra privacy. I loved lying in bed in the morning with the curtains just opened for that wonderful view of the sea.
A coffee machine was provided ,as well as the coffee service brought to you each morning. We like very strong coffee and used the machine daily for espressos.
Free internet service was very handy for us, as we had some work commitments to follow up and having provided this in room made it very easy.
We found the bed and pillows comfortable. Plenty of room for our clothes and luggage. Molton Brown toiletries. Candles provided by the bath for that romantic evening and enough room for two although the little step in the tub as a bit odd to us. The double headed showers inside and out were a nice touch as well.
Turndown service was beautiful with candles lighted in both the living and bed room areas. We were surprised with some beautiful petal arrangements on the bed twice during our stay.
We found the private pool useful for having a fresh water cooling dip as it was quite hot during our summer visit. Some previous reviews claim of the pool being too cold. But we really found it quite refreshing.
The beach is beautiful, with soft white sand and looks just like the photos. It was everything I could have hoped for. With plenty of large sun beds and chairs for sunning. We never had a problem getting a bed almost directly in front of our suite
The beach beds were comfortable and we had good beach service. Although we did have to ask twice for an ice bucket to keep the beers cold, when it seemed no problem for some of the folks around us to get one. One comment, I was surprised to not find any way of washing the sand from your feet coming from the beach and getting to your room. I would have also liked a shower close to the beach lounging area. But, lucky for us we just used the shower in the private massage area very close to the beach.
For my husbands birthday we splashed out and paid for the private beach front dinner. The set up was beautiful and our waiter couldn't have been better. . We dined in all the restaurants and had room service once for dinner and breakfast.
The food was very enjoyable, but I must admit we had some meals just as good in Playa Del Carmen. But the view more than made up for it.
The spa with lovely. But, in the steam/changing room there was only one seat, so once while waiting to be called for my appt. I had no where to sit, as the only chair was occupied. My husband enjoyed his first massage so much, he booked another for the last day. We also had the lovers chocolate massage and can highly recommend this treatment. Our therapists were first rate, We have enjoyed many treatments from top resorts and the therapists treating us truly made the experience.
I would like to thank all the previous TA reports concerning the billing as this helped to know you would be paying for everything and budgeting accordingly. We only had a few surprises on checkout concerning drinks, but nothing out of hand.
I saved and budged quite hard to experience this property to enjoy one of it's nicest suites and most of my expectations were met.
We really enjoyed our stay at Maroma and would highly recommend the property.

I can say the reviews on this site are completely accurate - the good ones anyway. My wife and I stayed at Maroma from June 26-30 and I think it was an experience we will never forget as long as we live.
The staff is incredibly wonderful and KIND. The food is wonderful. DO splurge for a special dinner, it was so fun to plan the meal with the chef the day before. The best surprise for my wife.
The beach beds are the best. We spent two FULL days on the beach - loved the beach menu.
Ugh, I could go on forever. Just book it. Don't think twice. My wife cried when we left. And these days many sentences start with - "when we go back to Maroma......"

You are picked up in a black, 2008 chevy suburban from the Cancun Airport, then wisked away like someone more important than you really are. Within 30 minutes, you are being escorted throughout the plantation of Maroma by hospitality. There is no arrogance - only warm smiles wanting you to relax and be waited upon. Everyone knows your name when you arrive - and they serve you even better when you know theirs (Samantha, Jorge, Fernando, Nefte, William). We were constantly spoken to by first name (and even my spanish name). We were very impressed by the staff's attentiveness to detail, their recall, and their courtesy.
The accomodations are superb. We were upgraded to a master suite (approx. 1300 sqft), with my cigars in place, rose petals on the bed for my wife, requested drinks/flowers, etc. The service is beyond reproach.
The food is excellent. The ceviche bar on the beach is truly refreshing. Try the tuna/grapefruit & the lobster/mango.
Dine on the beach if you can - if you can stay here, you can afford the price. Your wife will always remember it. We did the beach dining on a Wednesday - Maroma was dead on Wednesday night - perfect for a quiet dinner. No one - literally - but us and Fernando our waiter - on the beach or for that matter at the hotel that evening.
Speaking of, the beach is truly magnificent; clean, well kept, and for the most part, deserted. Within the 1.5 miles of beach in Maroma cove, there is one other small hotel/resort. You'll never notice them, or for that matter, the other guests at Maroma. Even on Saturdays and a full hotel, there are plenty of beach beds/loungers/chairs available. Not once did we see any people "camping out" for a place to stay in the sun. With only 60 rooms, there's plenty of space for everyone.
We also went fishing - caught some kingfish which the chef prepared three different ways for us.
Friday night is fun - the chef cooks steaks/lobster on the beach (on coals like all steaks should be cooked). There is a mayan fire show as well - pretty fun, especially after you've had a couple or ten drinks that day.
See the town in Playa - I highly recomend Yaxache (sp?) - supberb mayan dining, very authentic and very reasonable pricing. Hosptality can hook you up with a driver to take you there.
The spa is first class - i'm not a spa guy, but spending two hours wrapped in chocolate (naked) is remotely entertaining - my wife loved the treatment, I enjoyed the massage.
Supreme recomendation for couples wanting to reconnect. In my opinion, Maroma is not for singles and far too romantic (and quiet) to be shared with groups of friends.
This must be considered as one of the world's best.
