Clean and simple rooms, quite spacious. Free wi-fi. Nice quiet setting. A little too far from town for an easy walk in and out, but taxis fine. We did walk back from town one night, a bit of a trek but ok - 30 minutes brisk walk but all uphill! Parking good, staff friendly & helpful. We didn't eat in the restaurant but the food looked good; plenty of what looked to be locals were eating there. Restaurant/breakfast room not atmospheric but the lovely big log fire was nice. Breakfast good. A good base just out of the city.

Cheap and very cheerful

The Champanile is easy to find on a main road north out of town in ideal easy reach of the ferry port. That said the hotel wasn't noisy, though it was popular in the low season when we stayed.
The cost of the room was very low. Although the block of rooms didn't look promising from the outside, the inside was newly decorated and very comfortable indeed. It had great views, a most comfortable bed and tea making facilities.
The hotel has its own resaurant which provides a reasonable range of decently cooked simple food in a nice atmosphere.
Service was efficient and friendly and English is understood. Overall highly recommeded for the price particularly for those who only want to stop over for the night en route elsewhere.
